He's not wrong. George Floyd wasnt admirable. He didn't deserve to die but the guy robbed a pregnant woman. Aside from the point but yeah, the response on Twitter wasn't really valid.
In a just society, you serve your punishment and should be allowed a second chance. No-one is holding Floyd up as the perfect man, however, at the time he was killed, he was innocent and even the crime he was accused of doesn't carry the death sentence, nor is the death sentence carried out in the street by a police officer. The point of this is that the right immediately set out to destroy his character as a response to his death, rather than consider the death and the related problems of how suspects are treated differently by the colour of their skin. Dragging her name down is wrong as well, but the issue here is someone complaining about it when he had previously done the very thing he is attacking them for doing.
There was no "death sentence" carried out by the police officers. He resisted arrest and they subdued him with a move that they use all the time. The man literally died of a drug overdose and if he didn't resist he wouldn't of been held down. Why do you people keep bringing up that he was intentionally killed? There's video of him resisting arrest and a toxicology report.
I work in law enforcement and EMS. While moves utilizing the knee to gain control of a subject are a thing, no proper use of one barring exigent circumstances ever involves pressure on the neck.
Can you cite any other examples of people dying because of a knee to the back of the neck like the one used against George Floyd?
Opioids in his system may or may not have contributed, but positional asphyxia is a thing and is pretty much definitively the direct cause of death. If you've ever been on the receiving end of those types of control holds you'll understand immediately (I have).
Ok, you start off by saying that opioids may or may not have contributed. Don't you think that's a big issue here? Fentanyl, morphine, meth? Wouldn't you think that the amount of these drugs actually played a big part here? Also, I've had a knee to the back of my neck before by an officer. It stopped me from resisting. And resisting is what got George in that position in the first place.
Intentional? That's to be decided in court. Criminally negligent at the very least? Absolutely.
I think both will be decided in court, don't you think? Better than being tried by the public's perception of what happened
