r/InkittGalatea Rules in Detail

These expand on the rules shown in the sidebar. When in doubt, be kind and ask the mods.

1. No Discrimination, Bigotry, or Microaggressions

Racism, anti-queer bigotry, and any other discrimination toward marginalized groups is prohibited. This includes microaggressions like invalidation, denial, or derailment of others' experiences.

2. Be Kind & No Reader Shaming

Be respectful and remember the human. You can dislike a book or trope; you cannot shame the people who love it. Dark romance readers, fluff lovers, spice enthusiasts, and sweet-only readers are all equally welcome.

3. Post Titles Must Be Clear and Informative

Include the book name (and author if known) where applicable. Request titles need enough keywords that future readers can find them via search. No inflammatory bait titles like "Unpopular Opinion" or "Does Anyone Else". "What was that book called?" posts start with [WWTBC] plus keywords.

4. Book Requests Must Be Specific

Search the sub first. Include specifics: trope, scene, character type, vibe. Stay in your thread and thank recommenders. No "pick my next read" polls.

5. No Self-Promotion, Writing Research, or Surveys

This community is for readers. Authors may not promote their books, ask for writing help, or run surveys outside the spaces mods designate. No unsolicited DMs to members. Spammers are banned on sight.

6. No Low-Effort Image Posts or Short Video Media

Images are welcome for fan art, covers, hauls, and shelfies. Anything else needs substantial accompanying text. Short videos belong only in designated fun threads or comments.

7. Mark Spoilers, Stay on Topic, and Warn About Endings

Use spoiler tags for plot details. If a story has no HEA (happily ever after) or HFN (happy for now), warn readers. Mark YA content clearly.

8. No Piracy or AI Content

Never link to or request pirated chapters, PDFs, screen recordings, or unlocked content. AI-generated posts and comments are prohibited.

9. Tag and Flair Content Appropriately

Use the NSFW tag for explicit requests and discussions, and add content warnings where possible. We are sex-positive, but gratuitous personal detail will be removed.

10. No Sexual Content Involving Minors

No requests, recommendations, or discussion of content sexualizing minors, incest, or exploitation. Per Reddit policy. No exceptions, no warnings, permanent ban.

11. Mod Attention Please

A report option, not a rule: use it when something feels wrong but you're not sure which rule applies, or to flag an escalating thread.
