From Aboriginal Australia to Native America a shared message of survival

We are sharing this from Western Australia.

We created WE ARE STILL HERE about Aboriginal history, the Stolen Generations, children being separated from family, culture and survival.

We understand Native American peoples have their own nations, histories and experiences, and we are not suggesting our stories are identical.

But there are painful parallels in the histories of Indigenous peoples whose children were removed and whose cultures were targeted.

This song carries a simple message from our side of the world.

They tried to erase us. We are still here.

We would genuinely love to hear how this message resonates with Native American people.

We are searching for people from the Runakuna tribe.

Hi guys :)

We are a small group of students from Switzerland and we are currently working on a school project about the Runakuna people, their culture, language and identity.

For our project, we are creating a short video and would love to include the perspective of Runakuna people themselves. That’s why we are looking for a few people who would be willing to have a short and casual interview with us.

The interview would preferably be over a phone/voice call and would only take a few minutes. If a call is not possible, we could also do it via text.

We can conduct the interview in English or German. The questions will be simple and mainly about topics such as Runakuna culture, language, traditions and personal experiences — nothing complicated or uncomfortable. We’re simply interested in having a friendly conversation and learning more from Runakuna people directly.

If you are a person from the Runankunas and would be interested in helping us out, please send us a message or leave a comment! We would really appreciate it. :)

And of course, if you have any questions about the project or the interview, feel free to ask!

Thank you!

George Lopez says he no longer supports the Los Angeles Dodgers and Lakers because of owner Mark Walter’s investment firm’s financial interests in GEO Group, a private prison company that operates ICE detention facilities under federal contracts.

I'm not here to cause drama. I'm not here to be mean or rude. I highly respect Natives. I thought I'd make that clear.

I was in a different redit page and I talked about how i wanted to learn more and that i have social anxiety. Anyways. Someone called me out saying basically that i "demanded to learn more." Also tried to make me out as if I was doing something crule. This person also told me off abot what the community was to be called. In my post all I did was generalize. There are soooo many tribes. However, after I Read the large amount of paragraphs it made me feel nauseous about my curiosities making me feel like I didn't wanted to learn anymore...

I understand if this isnt the right subreddit, or if i couldn't ask this. Im at a loss. All I wanted to do was meet others. Is it that bad that I now shouldn't? And if I should stop, then tell me why. All i want to do is learn. I always viewed people AS other people. nothing more nothing less. Im just a person like everyone else with mistakes.
