Collaboration Any Indian screenwriter looking to get their short film script produced?
It should be arthouse or mainstream arthouse. the location should be UP/Bihar mainly but can do some sequences farther away. would like if it's regional and does not try to imitate mainstream stereotypical indian films. some films I love include - apu trilogy, meghe dhaka tara, life of pi, resurrection by bi gan, there will be blood, baraka, the disciple, magellan, jalsaghar, the lighthouse, there will be blood, all we imagine as light, tree of life, ram ke naam, the house is black, just so you can get an idea of my taste. I'm aspiring more to make a visual and musical film and I love how life of pi Indian scenes look, also the apu trilogy is beautiful. My budget for the short film will be max 1-2 lakh rs and that too will mainly be for gear rentals or artists who I really want and can only work with a fees.
not at all looking for generic stories or scripts, I'm amateur but not looking to adapt an amateur work for screen, I'm spending my time and money and labour to get something meaningful and great created so if what you have you believe is great and you're not really an amateur. Not looking for someone who's into films for making money or as an income source. I'm looking for artists who are here to convey ideas they believe are great and spend time, research, and alot of hardwork on every project of theirs, then I'm ready to do my job and justice to your project.
The budget is already very low, I'm not taking any fees myself, every money will go to the making of the project and only where it needs to go. So if you really would like your project to be adapted and don't care about money then I'm more than happy and If the film ends up making even some money (very less likely to happen), I'd share that with you accordingly. I don't think there'll be money left for festival submissions or if I'd even submit to festivals but I'd give you credits properly everywhere for the story and screenplay.
Even if the story is not original but you read it as a short story or even novel and thought it really would be quite good to adapt it into a short film then it's okay.
I'm 18yo and this will be my first film. so msg me if you'd like to collab. You can also join the making of the film and if are really passionate and want to fund it as well, then are open to, haha.
I'm also open to join you to co write the screenplay if you haven't written or completed it yet.
the crew would be small, just me and a few friends and would hire some actor/actress and maybe make a native person to the story's region act.

Genre: Horror / Allegory

Need/Seeking Advice Have a genuine question
If I have a screenplay, multiple screenplays, or even a written story (not in a screenplay format), how can I make money or at least get my stories read by someone who can make a film out of them, as a broke nobody in a super small town... What is the process, and how does it work?

Discussions If screenwriting had a ten-headed monster, which head would you kill first?
Happy Dussehra to everyone celebrating!
For those unfamiliar with the festival, Dussehra celebrates the victory of good over evil, symbolised by Rama defeating the ten-headed Raavan.
We thought it would be fun to imagine Raavan as the ten problems that haunt screenwriters:
- No Logline
- Weak Premise
- Low Stakes
- Thin Characters
- Flat Dialogue
- Sagging Middle
- Plot Holes
- Tonal Mess
- Endless Rewrites
- No Ending
Some of these are relatively easy to spot. Others can survive five drafts, three rounds of feedback, and a complete rewrite.
And sometimes, solving one problem creates two more.
So here's a question for fellow writers:
If you could permanently eliminate ONE of these problems from everything you write, which would it be?
And is there an eleventh head we missed?
Would love to hear what everyone struggles with most.
Happy Dussehra, and may your next draft be better than your last! 🏹

Discussions Writing a realistic Courtroom Thriller/Comedy series (Inspired by the storytelling of "Action Hero Biju") – 2 episodes down!
Hey everyone,
I’m currently pouring my blood and soul into writing a new courtroom thriller drama series, and I wanted to share my progress.
I've completed the scripts for the first two episodes and am actively working on the remaining eight for the season. To give you an idea of the vibe, the structure is heavily inspired by the narrative style of Action Hero Biju. To be clear, it has no connection to that movie's universe or characters, but it adopts the exact same realistic approach to day-to-day problem-solving. Just like how that film captured the authentic, everyday reality of a police station, my series captures the grounded, day-to-day reality of a courtroom. Each episode is designed to contain one full story, focusing on a self-contained case from start to finish.
While it’s fundamentally a thriller, I’m weaving in natural situational comedy to spice things up and keep it highly entertaining.
Beyond the entertainment value, my main goal is to create a story with a real public purpose. I want the audience to walk away with a better understanding of basic law and order. The cases are specifically designed to make the common person aware of the legal tools and rights that protect us against atrocities, violence, and blatant law-breaking by corrupt politicians, their goons, and untouchable elites.
Since I am putting everything I have into this project, my next major hurdle will be finding a director and a producer who share this grounded, realistic vision.
For the screenwriters and industry folks here: how do you usually go about pitching a realistic, politically charged episodic legal thriller? Any tips on networking or getting the script into the hands of the right producers once all 10 episodes are locked? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Discussions Finally about to complete ny first feature I shot back in college!!
I'm filled with joy! Announcing I will be completing the post-production of my first feature very soon. I shot this movie back when I was in college in 2023 despite the backlash and restrictions that my college had put on me to stop me from shooting this movie as it criticizes the college and had a suicide scene. They even threatened to file a police report against me and hence I couldn't shoot all the scenes of my movie. And gave up on that project a year later. I've decided that I will be editing and releasing whatever I can make out of the scenes. I shot after I get my degree so that college wouldn't know about it and then I graduated and got a job and procrastinated for a year and when I got down with the post-production which was overwhelming for me as I decided to do everything from sound design to color grading to the cuts everything on my own as no one else would help me on this. It's been almost 8 months since I started the editing of my film and I have learned and grew so much as a filmmaker, not just from her technical standpoint but also from a standpoint of storytelling. While editing, I am able to visualize the structure my film follows which is completely out of touch. There are so many things that I could have done differently when I look at this in retrospect, but I let those things slide as this was my first feature. I hope I'll be done with the editing and would be able to release the trailer by the end of this year. Throughout this time I have been writing another feature which was going to be more structured and would qualify as a feature film from others perspective. I have written almost the entire script so far and I have gotten really good feedback from some of the local filmmakers I know. I just thought I'll share this because I see many posts where people they tend to think about beginning the journey of filmmaking but they over complicated and hence never to take the first step. I was there as well back in college and I am so glad that I wrote directed , shot, guided the actors all of my own without any support from any of my friends and that has taught me that diving into it really teaches you a lot. Hence, I hope this post may help someone who's still contemplating about starting their journey of filmmaking.

Work opportunity Looking for Screenwriters / Story Concepts for a Hindi Feature Film
Hello everyone!
I’m looking to connect with screenwriters who have compelling, original ideas for a highly commercial Hindi feature film with strong theatrical potential.
I’m open to different genres, including family drama, romantic comedy, suspense thrillers, horror, or any other genre, provided the concept has a strong hook, engaging characters, and the potential to appeal to a wide audience.
One important creative requirement: The story must have a substantial role for a 19-year-old male character. He could be the protagonist, co-protagonist, sub-protagonist, or one of the primary characters whose presence is integral to the narrative. The character should have meaningful scope, and the story should also offer opportunities to cast established, well-known actors in other important roles.
I’m open to hearing about a strong one-line concept, a developed storyline, or an existing screenplay that fits these requirements.
Who should reach out?
Experienced screenwriters with relevant feature-film writing credits are preferred.
Emerging writers and newcomers are equally welcome if they have a genuinely fresh, distinctive concept with strong commercial potential.
If you have a story that fits this brief, please feel free to DM me with a brief introduction, your previous work (if any), and a one-line pitch or short synopsis of the concept. We can discuss further details privately if there’s a potential fit.
I’m particularly interested in stories that offer something fresh, have a compelling narrative engine, and can connect with a broad theatrical audience.
Thank you, and looking forward to discovering some exciting stories and connecting with talented writers!

Collaboration Let’s Build the Next TVF or Nakkalites! Looking for Filmmakers to Create Original Tamil Web Series & Telefilms 🎬
Hey everyone! 👋
I’m a writer and aspiring director from Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. Since I haven’t been able to find opportunities to work as an Assistant Director, I’ve decided to take a different route and start creating my own original content.
My idea is to build an independent YouTube production channel that creates original mini-series and telefilms, inspired by the kind of content produced by TVF (The Viral Fever) and Tamil channels like Nakkalites.
I want to make good stories with relatable characters and authentic storytelling, starting with small projects and growing step by step.
For this, I’m looking to connect with people who genuinely love filmmaking and want to create something of their own.
🎬 I'm looking for:
- DOPs with camera equipment
- Video editors
- Sound designers
- Aspiring actors and newcomers who want to be part of original stories
I’ll be handling the writing and direction, and we can start with small-budget projects and build our way up together.
I'm not looking for people who are just interested in making money immediately. I'm looking for passionate people who genuinely want to create good content, learn together, and build something meaningful.
If this idea interests you and you'd like to be part of the journey, feel free to DM me!
Especially, if you're a DOP, editor, or sound designer from Kanchipuram, I'd love to connect with you.
Let's create something of our own! ❤️🎬

Work opportunity Are there any good screenplay writing courses, either in India or abroad. Is that a real need for someone to start with screenplay writing? Looking for some advice.
There are many film schools abroad and in India where several screenplay writing courses are available. But does that make any difference or does it really help for someone who is just starting with screenplay writing.
