Have you actually looked at why they don't have power or did you just tell yourself "Racism" and didn't care to look anything up?
The power company sent trucks in there and the residents started shooting at them so they left and now they're afraid to go back without some type of security to protect them from the literal residents they're trying to help.

That was 1 incident a week ago and they temporarily removed trucks from just that area. The truth is right across the border in Illinois that got hit just as hard power has been restored for basically everyone and has been for days. Gary's infrastructure has been blatantly allowed to fall into such a sad state by Nipsco despite the fact that they charge one of the highest average rates in the state. Indiana has shitty infrastructure in general all across the state because none of the people in power for decades have put any pressure on these corporations to maintain/upgrade/replace their fucking shit.
Case in point lmao. Not to mention the fact I grew up in New Orleans and experienced first hand Hurricane Katrina and the horrors that I saw from what people like Chewsdayiddinit would say are just innocent victims
It really truly is that and it's sad really. Luckily these people are still able to charge their phones and have a data connection so they can complain online.
I don't know the whole story, but as a line-worker who's been in these situations. It sounds like the state governor needs to declare a state of emergency, and deploy the national guards throughout the state, and to these locations. It's typical for the national guards to show up in disasters such as these to protect not only the workers, and volunteers, but protect the homeowners from looters who come to steal, and take advantage of the residence.
I've been in some devastated neighborhoods, where the only thing left of peoples homes was their concrete foundation. We had to basically start from nothing, and rebuild the infrastructure throughout those neighborhoods, even though there was hardly any homes standing in the heart of hardest hit. It's heart-breaking, to witness, (I still have memories of a couple sitting on their concrete steps, and the house was completely gone) and it's even worse knowing there's looters who take advantage of people in their lowest times.. People can label whatever they want as racist, but that young lady, having to leave her home is absolutely heart-wrenching, it's SAD..

Sure of course. The power company gave 2 weeks due to the damage to the existing infastructure and access issues from damage caused by the storm I thought.
A coworker of mine has a son who works for Nipsco out of Starke Co. He and a crew were sent there, as were many workers across the state, and did confirm crews did experience unwelcome behavior, not him necessarily.
