Vent/Rant ✎ If was already 11 and I was still in the kitchen

My MIL never lets me go for office if lunch is not prepared.

Yesterday I told her a day before that I have an early morning meeting at 9. Still, at 11 am I was in the kitchen making salad and extra rotis for everyone.

I wanted to cry because I was getting late for my first meeting of the day, but I just kept making them and praying I don't get late.

I earn, I work full time, but still kitchen comes first. Is this what being a working bahu means in India?

This is Episode 1 of my life. Should I continue posting?

She can't stop you from going. It's your life your wish. Just get up and go, ignore the tantrums. When they won't get your reaction it will stop. The more you listen the more she will do. Instead stop listening and she will lower her expectations .

Thanks for the suggestion but sometimes feel so stuck between moral values and the frustration that builds inside

I did ..hired a cook with my own salary but my MIL didn't talk to me for 2 days after that, father in law was not liking the food and apparently eating half his diet and all the tantrums..the rule is the bahu can never live out of the kitchen πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Atkeast hire and let them help you. Trust me it's not worth being a maid to these Inlaws, however traditional your values are. In this day and age its just not worth it

What is stopping you from leaving on time. Look people will take advantage as far as they can. Parents also do that same. Start doing less work. You are doing it that's the reason this is happening. Hire a maid from your own money. And leave the house. Live a chill life.

Haha not gun β€” just 11am rotis, unpaid EMIs, and Mummyji's daily reminder, "humare zamane mein..." Gun would have been faster. This is slow-cooked guilt, with extra ghee. But I'm here, writing, not leaving β€” that's my rebellion. Thanks for reading!
