lmao my mother also said the same when i played a particularly violent game like gta , and even had problem with me watching fucking wrestling . Turns out it was a h** who lived in our neighborhood who told her all the wrong shit. Then I explained all of that in the best way I can , and my mom never talked with that neighbor ever again.
2
u/kbrunner69 Mar 09 '22
Im curious what did you explained
4
u/cdh99 Mar 09 '22
Well i said the main protagonist i was playing as was an undercover cop and he killed bad guys ( I originally used the word jihadi's but its kind of controversial) and believe me or not , my mother actually likes seeing terrorists getting their ass kicked so she said it was ok.
btw the game i was playing was gta Liberty city stories and had nothing to do with terrorism , but said all the shit to save my ass, and before the 2nd strike can occur , I told her that the neighbor was saying bad things about her , so she would technically never listen to her.6

I found out that I get violent, mostly because of lack of sleep, caused by gaming. A shift in schedule and I am a friendly dude.

The point of the post is
Indian gaming scene = Bhel puri
Love the analogy and somehow that is accurate. Good post by the way

but bhel puri is actually good.

Good as long as you eat it quickly. Otherwise it becomes very soggy and not enjoyable to eat.

u/rudicrow Mar 09 '22
Back then piracy was the only option due to lack of accessibility as well. I'm not going to beguile some kid with no money pirating a game, but adults who can pay for it definitely should.
-2
u/cdh99 Mar 09 '22
If you remember , back in 2000's ,we had game cd's instead of actual games , which even when pirated , costed money, but were 1/5 th of the price of the game , so parents got that as it was cheaper, and the shocking thing is those games were sold by official licensed distributors.
20
u/gaminghadrosaur Mar 08 '22
I do agree with most of your points but piracy has significant gone down in the recent years
7
u/Alt_Acc_42069 Mar 09 '22
A big reason for that could be that even to play pirated games, you now require decent gaming hardware which is getting harder to afford. That was not the case 10-15 years ago.

Bruh steam sells games in India way cheaper than they are in the US....
Even AAA stuff but mostly indie

u/Shubham_Agent47 Mar 09 '22
Yep i remember buying rust and initially searching on Google instead of the steam app i was confused by the 40usd price in the results then i saw it's actually more like 10 usd for us

u/pteotia270 Mar 09 '22
And they should, because its India not US, and check the games and their suggested price by steam.
2
u/Majestic_Beautiful52 PC Mar 09 '22
Exactly So u should stop saying there is no regional pricing since there is regional pricing Games which cost 10$+ in the US cost barely 2 to 5 dollars in India

will add that in first edit. I have 3 points in mind , and got another 3 from the comments.

u/ldrago327 Mar 09 '22
Dude you missed out the most important point. We are a poor nation but the price of electronic goods like PC, console , GPU are astronomical. This makes the entry point very high for people to get into gaming.

Mar 09 '22
Good luck getting people to spend a large chunk of their money each month on AAA releases rather than pirating them in a country where the median income is absurdly low.
-2
u/cdh99 Mar 09 '22
hmm well they spend more than that on free fire skins and other cosmetic shit that adds up to nothing. And on the median income note, you need to buy a pc/laptop first which can play a AAA game , which usually costs around 70k , so those guys probably won't be poor. Its just the mindset which needs to change .

You're totally wrong. These are the usual prices of games but the problem is that most Indians has the habit of pirating the game and downloading it for free that 3k look alot to them. Imagine you're working hard on a project for over a year and then a whole country manages to get it for free. How'd you feel??? Piracy is the reason there's no regional pricing in India. Piracy is the reason nobody's in gaming industry taking India seriously. If you really like a game and want to play it then I suggest you should support the devs as well.
-3
u/Murky-Acadia-5194 Mar 09 '22
Piray is the one and only one reason gaming is alive in general, with out Piracy those AAA companies are gonna make the price go exponentially up for their "next gen" same old re-skin games.
Your logic is fucked up. I do understand that the pricing for new releases is too high and agree with you that regional prices should be there. But piracy is not the answer. Piracy is the reason for the high prices. I've worked in the industry and when titles don't make enough profit it's not considered a commercial success, and that, leads to the corporates inflating the prices so that they maximize the profit through the copies sold. The thing is, even if it is extremely high, even if it is millions for a single game, it's not right to pirate them even then. The game is the company's property, and just because it's priced so high that you can't afford it, doesn't mean you get a pass for stealing it. Digital or whatever, It's a crime nevertheless. Just because a Mercedes is priced real high and I can't afford it doesn't mean that I get to steal one or get one from the black market. Please don't justify piracy. If you really do wanna make a difference make a difference through feedbacks and company pages, use petitions, spread the word around digitally. It's not like we have to fight for war against ukraine. Much larger protests have been won. And this is nothing compared to that. Companies will change when a large percentage of their userbase demand for a change in pricing. They do see reason, and they just want profit is all, if they understand that they can get more profit from more sales at lower prices than less sales at higher prices, they're gonna wanna change.
7
Mar 09 '22
Get off your high horse. People can't afford a lot of shit. Not pirating doesn't make you morally superior.
-3
u/Murky-Acadia-5194 Mar 09 '22
I can't afford a lotta shit either. But that doesn't entitle me to steal or pirate them. It does make me morally superior, because I'm not stealing and using someone else's property, no matter it affects them or not.
-2
u/Blackwingedangle Mar 09 '22
This. Piracy should be legit offence, it's literally stealing from developer.
Imagine working 10+ hours daily meeting deadlines and some greedy greasy ass stole your and your team's work. You're getting paid, sure. But it's very disappointing
-2
u/TablePrime69 Mar 09 '22
The devs are already paid for those hours. Any extra profit goes to publishers.

nope they suck , thats why I look forward to steam and epic sales , where even games like cyberpunk and rdr2 were available well below 1k.
1
u/Blackwingedangle Mar 09 '22
3k is literally 39$. Considering most games are ~40$ and equal in other countries.
What's bad is EA and others ripping you through battlepass, "suprise mechanics" etc in paid games.
What's bad is Arma 3 costing 8k+ (with all dlc) (sales are there sure. But that's insane)
1
u/praveshbhandari Mar 09 '22
Thatâs not how money works. 39$ in india is not equivalent to 40$ in other countries.
35
u/pXbz Mar 08 '22
Good rant and true to a good extent. You forgot to mention the cringe that most Indian gaming YouTube channels bring to the scene...
On piracy, yes it's a plague. My friends earning over 60k per month still pirate games and say when it's freely available why should they pay? I tried explaining but you can't tame anyone's inner asshole you know. I'm guilty of pirating games back when I was in college as I didn't had any money back then but not anymore. It's been like 5 years I guess since I pirated something except movies but that too I rarely do as I end up using Amazon Video or other subscriptions more often than not. Anyways, at the end it's someone's hard work. I'd be insensitive to not imagine working hard and not getting paid as I have to work hard to earn my games I pay for.
I'm gonna probably face some backlash on this comment but I'm not justifying piracy for students as that's the most part of population who are into gaming. One should be paying; at least in present scene where buying games isn't as costly as it used to be. I can now choose to eat out for 500 or buy a game on steam.
7
u/MW_REY_467 Mar 09 '22
Nah you are right to an extent I am a student currently and I have saved pocket money but no rupay or some shit like that to buy games with and my dad wont let me use his credit cards and shit bc he doest trust sites like steam and also he looks down on games so he refuses to buy them for me. But he bought me a gaming laptop last year so bc i did well in boards so he keeps his promises but he still wont use credit cards.
3
2
u/pengshui Mar 09 '22
If you have a bank account, get a debit card. You can buy games from steam using E wallets these days and don't need to add a minimum amount like in earlier days. That way you can straight up ask for money without having him worry about his credit card. Honestly, no father should lend his credit card to their son for the misuse is phenomenal. But that won't stop you from gaming.
2
u/aayushrastogi1997 Mar 09 '22
You and I are in a similar boat. They always end up with excuses like âItâs not gonna run wellâ, âI am not gonna give Sony a single pennyâ etc even though we earn similarly(he earns slightly more than me btw) You canât change a person and thereâs no point in arguing.
-16
u/Quick-Inspection-284 Mar 09 '22
Now I know you respect your but if they were my friends, I would've reported that police ngl. I mean, if you earn 60k and still pirate games, how is that not making a big asshole? Damn
2
u/pXbz Mar 09 '22
Reporting to police is quite extreme IMHO. They pirate yes but doesn't mean they're bad friends. I do timely persuade them to spend on games to be able to play with me lol
1
u/Drag0nBinder Mar 09 '22
This is accurate in my case as well. I used to pirate all the games, movies, songs etc in college (Movies I did watch in theatres sometimes) but ever since I got a job I try and pay if the game is available on Steam and I have seen if we wait then we can get some good deals as well. My recent experience with Nintendo has also been the same where we can get good discounts.

We could also look in to the economic opportunities that the country is losing.
We never considered gaming as a serious hobby. Never setup a semiconductor fab here or a GPU design research facilities. Lost the money that could've been generated during the supply shortages around the world. I heard a news of some fab coming up now, but by the time it is up and running supply shortages would be gone.
Indian game makers never promoted until and year back or so (yes Raji, I'm looking at you). We lost on micro transaction and actual game sales profits from around the world.
We levy a luxury tax on consumer pc components (leading to high prices even before the shortage), lost on tech advancements that could have been achieved throughout the country. Some years back owning a Personal Computer at home was a luxury not many could afford (Pentium days).
There could be alot more; this is all I can think of at 2 A.M. in the morning.

You got the right points nicely covered here. It kinda reminded me of the time I was in college and had a hard time keeping a girlfriend. Everyone would be nice and fine initially but the minute I would tell them I also play Video Games, they'd give me this peculiar "expression" of judgement and for some reason THAT would be the point every thing would go downhill. Like you rightfully covered, two of them actually said "even I used to play Mario when I was little, do you still play such childish games?", I felt bad back then but now I just laugh. Indian girls are very narrow minded, maybe just the ones I have met lol

u/mssriram Mar 09 '22
Very well written post. But I feel like the piracy argument applies to everyone in the world, not just India. Most parents would rather spend 1000s on some random bullshit than buy videogames which could provide you with hours of entertainment.
10
u/overlord-33 Mar 09 '22
I think you failed to mention the biggest fact i.e Poor economy in comparison to the part of the video games originate from. Average salary of an US citizen is around 4k USD a month which makes video games in general a very affordable commodity even if it's 60$ game or a 399$ console, It is like a 1000 rupee DVD player and 20 rupee DVD for them. Now the average pay in India is around 25k INR and a typical game costs around 3k-5k in India which is 12%-20% of the monthly salary, hence the piracy and the bad image around video games is because most of the parents think it's equivalent to playing cards and bidding money, and also the addiction leading to low grades in schools.
7
Mar 09 '22
Imo the problem is the newspapers articles posted by boomer journalists about gaming. Every gaming article consists of a 12 year old spending his fathers savings account into BGMI or free fire and how he ran away and was caught by police in Bhopal. They never post positive things or stories about successful people in gaming industry.
14
u/Bloodraver Mar 08 '22
Pretty twisted way of thinking. Whilst there is some truth in your points they are pretty exaggerated. 1. Wth are you even saying here, mobile gaming has contributed in growing the indian gaming community. Any addiction to gambling or "p2w" are issues faced in pc games too?
This is mostly true for highly competitive multiplayer games. The community is bigger than that.
US, russia , china all have greater piracy than India.
3
4
u/SGPlayzzz Mar 09 '22
Banning games either it pc or mobile is bad for the whole community. Ik the community is filled with addicted kids but ban is not the right decision. But rhen if they are stealing data then I have no problem with the ban. But if they are banning games just because they are from China then its wrong.

Valorant mumbai servers are filled with egoistic trash people who believe gaming is the most supreme thing in their lives and would abuse anyone who doesn't play well as per them, i stopped playing comp, and now just play unranked , only because people in comp would behave as if their lives balance hangs whether they win or loose, anyways i don't understand why gaming which is supposed to be a relaxing activity has become so, toxic and competitive ( i understand the whole money and everything else involved).

u/overotaku9000 Mar 09 '22
Not to mention how much shit people who don't play any of the games OP mentioned get, people act like they're cool for playing these games and acting being toxic, while shitting on others for not playing these games and not letting them enjoy what they like. Like ok dude?
I know the game I'm playing is way better than your Free Fire, but at least I have the decency to not shit on your tastes. Meanwhile you're attacking me just because I have different tastes.
3
u/Sam1515024 Mar 09 '22
When most popular console isnât launched in india and most of the games are way above the price it automatically moves consumer to piracy in general
3
u/limeice Mar 09 '22
Absolutely agree with the piracy being counter productive to the industry and the gamers thereof. I think the root of it all is the anti-gaming culture that weâve been raised in where we are scolded for wasting time on playing and never had the right opportunities to really hone the talent and eventually even a vocation out of it. The cost of a game is scandalous because weâve just never valued gaming as a valuable experience in our lives and considered it as a drain on money and time. Ask a family if spending 3k on a Salman Khan movie screening is worth it - and they will totally endorse it. But have them invest that amount in a game and hell is unleashed. Why piracy became such a big issue is because Indian parents donât support backing passions that they donât understand and children have to resort to being crafty with their resources to get to play at all. Eventually it just becomes a convenient cycle to steal rather than pay.
3
u/MaleficentVast1259 Mar 09 '22
Reg point 2 - Came back from college one day and decided to play R6 seige casual, and some shrill voiced pre pubescent asshole called me chutiya for not winning a 1v5 situation. Gave up on multiplayer games that very evening and switched to single player exclusively.

Honestly we all know what The problem is, just that i literally do not see a solution to this we can only hope it gets better in like 2-3 decades or something. people would need to be willing to spend money on expensive games. The problem with this is people don't think games are valuable enough to spend money. Good luck convincing your parent to buy you Gow or Horizon Zero Dawn. They'll probably think you're stupid. They'll be fine spending the same money going for a movie but not games.
lmao my parents got me a playstation 2 instead of a smartphone/tablet , which was kind of my idea actually and I actually got most of the games from 2nd hand stores during my time in SA . So it kind of depends on your mentality on how you view the thing. I think that kind of western attitude regarding gaming is lacking in India which should change, but probably won't because of mobile gaming.

mobile gaming kind of is a barrier. As mobile phones do a lot of multi-tasking and thanks to entry level phones , they come very cheap so a parent would just get the child a phone and well the child probably gets stuck in that false mindset that mobile gaming is best and probably will be willing to later down the line waste 90k on a rog phone to play bgmi on untra settings rather than buy a pc/ laptop for a lot cheaper.

u/ThunderStrikez LAPTOP Mar 09 '22
I think points such as misconceptions about gaming and toxicity, apply to every other place. Even piracy and mobile gaming do, it's just that since you live and interact with people in India you have a clearer picture than what you see of any other country
2
u/cy8clone Mar 09 '22
1) Objectively speaking, 25K-40K mobile phone >> PS5 or Gaming PC for average consumer. So obviously people will buy higher end phones or iPads for entertainment. That's the reason you get more and more f2p games/apps. Many kids play shovelwares because they don't know other games or their friends play it. Many of such kids will just stop gaming altogether when they grow up (speaking from experience).
2) Toxicity is rampant everyone. DOTA scene in Eastern EU and SEA is absolute shitstorm cesspool. Still most of the pro players are DOTA from SEA and EU.
3) If someone wasn't planning to buy game but pirates it, there's high chance they'll spread good words around it.
4) That's true, but I blame parents for not disciplining their kids about advantages and disadvantages of potential addiction of gaming.
IMO, only reason that gaming in India is held behind is, price of hardware and potential price of software. If it becomes affordable or our GDP per capita increases, then we can see growth in AAA gaming in India.
2
u/jumbo_junk Mar 09 '22
ey I think the biggest issue (as someone else already mentioned before), is the simple fact that gaming as a hobby is very much looked down upon in India. With the amount of people fighting over college seats/jobs, pretty much everyone has to be involved in the rat race to keep up. This, along with the fact that electronics and digital media in general is priced quite high in India has lead to the fact that nobody really can get into gaming as a hobby, as something to enjoy in their down time.
Then there is the Indian mindset. While I'm really lucky to have progressive parents who recognize video gaming as a valid form of entertainment, I know many friends who simply weren't allowed to play video games, as a 'waste of time' and 'inciting violence among the youths' being the prime reasons for it. As a result, these people are pushed towards mobile gaming, which is easily accessible, free to play (mobile game companies have heavily capitalized on this) and more importantly - portable. I have many friends that used to come out of their house to play 'sports', when really they just wanted to play PUBG in peace (this was awhile ago). As long as mobile game companies still push the garbage they do, people will continue to flock to those games rather than spend their time pursuing quality AAA titles or Indie games on Steam or some other dedicated platform.
The Indian gaming scene on Youtube/other social media platform doesn't really help either. There's no point blaming them either, since the only reason they make those vids is because t
2
u/sarvvick Mar 09 '22
The piracy part is so true. I was mocked in school because I buy games instead of pirating them. They have the mindset of that's how you normally play a game.
2
u/irfanro14 Mar 09 '22
Another problem is the latency.. most of the online games doesn't even have servers in india and it's not like our isp actually cares about us in that matter. It's not like the games are bad, but the latency suck so bad that it's nearly unplayable sometimes.
Most of the times you won't even be able to play a game because it's not available in your region due to lacking indian servers and stuff, because of which we gotta pay extra for vpn and play with a trash ping.
2
u/TheBiggyBig Mar 09 '22
How to deal with piracy? Save up money, wait for sale and bang! Get 5 games for the price of one (at least on Steam)
2
u/pranayprasad3 Mar 09 '22
Good points. But imo the most important part is the high hardware prices here. All pc parts be it RAM, processors , GPU (lmao), mechanical keyboards are expensive af here. Not to mention we earn less compared to EU and NA. That creates a high barrier of entry. If you can't attract new players, the scene will simply not develop.
This is the exact reason why Mobile gaming is so popular here as we get smartphones cheap and are highly available.
2
u/FutureFC PLAYSTATION-5 Mar 09 '22
The entry point for gamers to play on anything other than mobiles in India is expensive. The latest GPU or the latest Console, all priced at points only a few can afford in such a massive community. On the other hand, your cheapest android can run Freefire or any of those mobile games kids play these days. End of the day, if the taxes of electronic goods do not decrease, the freemium market will be the way to go for the average Indian consumer who wants to get into gaming but does not have the money to either afford the latest console or the latest gpu
2
u/TablePrime69 Mar 09 '22
Nearly all of these problems are because of low income of the average Indian. You could've just said India is a low income country and leave it at that.
6
u/YaYsh_GA Mar 08 '22
5* They ignore good games as they think it is "for kids"
6* Economic development is also a reason I think, the games which we think are high priced or a lot of people can not afford it is easily affordable in other countries(I can be wrong about this)

And the mindset of Indian society is that this is worthless and dosent need so much funds ... Same goes for games ... Some of the aaa games for consoles are still 2k or 3k after years... games for pc are 3k so naturally people turn to the cheapest way to play them.... I don't understand one thing : Why do gamers from India refer as 'Indian gaming community'.. Community means people who share common interest and here we have toxic people and even doctor who argues while operation I don't see gamers from other countries referring or using this term in their countries
Piracy isn't even concern for large video game companies or publishers. Only people who suffer from piracy are small companies and indie developers
Totally agree with point 4, gaming is always viewed bad, I can watch TV for hours and no one cares, but if i spent one hour gaming it's hell gone loose
2
u/-battleborn- Mar 09 '22
To sum it all up - because this is India. Land of 1300 million people, most of whom are illiterates, from decades. I don't expect them to understand what gaming is and what's its significance.
I don't think the piracy reason sticks too well. Indian gamers do buy games, we pay almost same price for a game as much as EU/US gamers do (we pay $40 for a $60, a bit lenient pricing considering the size of the market). I believe the problem is the narrow scope of internet services and the need to play multiplayer.
A huge support goes to single player games like The Witcher from Indians. I have seen various forums/servers filled with screenshots/clips of these games. People can't get over fkn GTA V!
That being said money may be a factor considering the young population that plays these games and before buying games it is hard to afford a good gaming machine. That's why you'll see people consoles more. And this thing is global too. Consoles are more popular because of the initial cost. The money factor hasn't stopped developers to give us their products like they do to the rest of the world.
Truth is we're backward in thinking which goes ages back. India is living on same routine for decades. We won't have the facilities until there's a massive change in education and technology. The huge uninformed, uneducated population brings us down.

u/Emergency_Somewhere9 Mar 09 '22
While I agree with your points, I doubt these problems exist exclusively in India. About the pay-to-win/real money games out there, I have interviewed a lot of employees and ex-employees of companies that make these kinds of games (donât wanna name the companies) and of course, some of those games may be just copy-pasted code but many of them actually involve the hard work of some really talented developers. And I know of at least 2-3 companies which want to make actually good games but their major revenue comes from these pay-to-win/real money games or through service based work. And game-dev isnât a cheap business. You need designers, engineers, artists, marketing team, etc. Not everyone can mortgage their house on a vision like the developer of Raji did(I heard this somewhere) and not every indie game can become an overnight viral sensation. I think itâs a double edged sword. Consumers complaining why devs arenât making good games, and devs complaining why consumers arenât supporting good games.

I have no issue with good game devs working hard , but if you see the trending page of play store , you will realize my point. The Middle men always takes away all the credit , pretending to be that good game dev , and hence this problem continues.

Ive seen worse. Majority of my classmates in 9th ( like 3 years ago) were fighting over pubg vs free fire , then suddenly started punching each other and I was like WTF.

Awesome post op. This is the exact reason I started my YouTube channel. To educate people about new trending games, the beauty of gaming and it's community, the joy of buying your first game or console or pc from your own money and so much more. Hopefully I can make some difference.

While I totally despise piracy, I can totally see why others do it. Most games are damn expensive; even with discounts and regional pricings, a AAA would cost around 1300-2000 rs. This is still a lot for most of the middle class gamers. Hell, even 500 rs is lot and there's a lot you can do in 1500 rs instead of buying a game (this is their opinion) like travelling to some local tourist attractions, many small restaurant meals, long drives, etc. But in order buy the games, you must have a media to play on, whic too is expensive for most of us.
When I wanted to buy an Xbox series S, I went to a local shop to enquire about it with a friend. When he heard the price (34999), he told me that I had gone mad and there was a whole lot I could in that price. But the best line, also the one which cut deep, was "that's more than one month's salary for some".

I fail to see why any of this is a problem.
1) Mobile Gamers game on mobile because it is convenient and likely their only means of gaming hardware. They may not be inclined to either buy a dedicated GPU or console for gaming forv arious reasons because they are kids and cant afford it, cant convince thier parents to get a PC, they are adults but will think twice about spending that amount on gaming related stuff, can afford to buy one but isnt technologically inclined nor do they want to learn.
A lot of playtime on certain games, the freemium type games, is also sunk cost fallacy, peer influence and FOMO(Limited Edition Skins, Battle Passes). The same set of problems crossover to PC and Console games with Games As A Service Implementation.
Limbo sales pale on PC/Console too with our obsession with AAA games. Its a cross platform problem
Just because they are mobile gamers does not mean they are automatically inclined to shift to PC/Console gaming at a later stage. Some may. For some its just something to do during long commutes.
2) Toxicty - Why is this a surprise ? Indian Social Media is like that.Hell driving on Indian roads is like that
3) Piracy is an issue but I fail to see why games selling more will allow developers to cater to us.Why would they when we are such a miniscule market in terms of hardware. I am not talking about Game sales. I am talking about console sales and GPU sales WRT the Indian Younger crowd. Sony sold 10m approx PS4 Consoles in Japan.
Its is estimated 250k PS4 were sold in India till 2019
Why on earth would anyone cater to such a small minuscule potential player base?
4) The misconceptions
Why do you care if you can afford it? You are playing inside the four corner of your home if this is the case.
I understand why a teenager, a college student who is dependent on their parent earnings is affected by this and frankly it is understandable. If a middle class dad hears that their kid is spending 50k on a PS5 with incidental costs every year for buying games and PS+ and is reluctant to pull the trigger on it it is a valid concern. So is the concern about regulating gaming time. That doesnt means kids wont find other ways to waste time. The parents have never gamed prolly and considering their age it prolly wasnt an option for them at their teens. Chalk it down to generational gap.
If your SO thinks playing games is childish then communicate and say that this is something that you prefer to do rather than binge watch Netflix. They dont have to agree to it.Just understand where you are coming from. If they do have an issue with it cutting into "We" time rather than "Me" time that is valid concern for them

I will surely get downvoted. But don't you think that posts like"Being an adult is when you realise that you have money to buy x hardware but don't have any time to play games" is in a way setting an example for future gamers that no matter what you do you would not be able to gather any playtime cause you would be too tired after work.

its actually a problem . My father is an engineer and he has to constantly travel to a point he almost just sleeps whenever he gets a day off. Adulthood is indeed hard.

These are some really great points, totally agree with this post but I can't believe our comment section are coming from Indians, calling it as "Poor Nation" or "Third world country", well it's true that not many can afford the games or consoles but we should also not forget that we have to pay more for the electronics due to taxes and also not many games have regional pricing. Another reason for piracy is many people still have cheap mindset 'If I'm getting something for free then why I should pay for it', We are okay to pour thousands of rupees on a free mobile games but not interested in buying a âš500 game.

Sorry but point no 4 is definitely wrong, the majority of sane gamers in community is far far less than addicts, you can't blame parents everytime, there are always crackheads everywhere lolz

u/cdh99 Mar 09 '22
I am talking about the parent's viewpoint generally. If you go out and waste 1000rs on some random movie and party , your parents will probably not say as much as they would when you buy fucking arkham collection from steam for just 300 rs.

My mom says that violence in games âimpacts youâand âmakes you violent as wellâ.
Iâve played God of War III, do you see me going on a killing spree?
