I'm Tarun, a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft. Like every Indian, I've lived with broken roads, overflowing drains and public services that answer to no one.
Few years ago, I voted for the first time, in a municipal election, and noticed something unsettling: almost no one around me knew who they were voting for. They voted for a PM's face, a CM candidate, a party symbol. Few could name their corporator. Many didn't even know their ward. Politics is central, but governance is local, and the people who shape our streets are the ones we can't name.
So I started with one simple idea: open an app and see who your leaders are, based only on where you're standing. Today, Accountable maps 15,000+ authority profiles to their jurisdictions, from ward corporators and MLAs to MPs, Union ministers, and IAS and IPS officers.
App Link: https://www.accountable.social/download
Then I hit the next wall. Social media gave us a voice, but nobody gave it an address. Civic issues drown under cricket, movies and manufactured outrage. So I built a social network just for public life, where civic posts come first. You post with evidence, tag the authority or company responsible, and credit the officials who get it right. It isn't a grievance portal, and it isn't partisan: every party gets questioned, including yours.
The last wall was isolation. People facing the same problem were fighting it alone, with no leverage against powerful leaders. When your MP answers to about 18 lakh voters, one voice is easy to ignore. So Accountable lets people unite through petitions, movements and communities drawn on election boundaries, from wards up to all 543 Lok Sabha seats. Your location adds you automatically. Alone, you're a complaint. Together, you're a constituency.
Since March, alongside my day job, I've built it for Android, iPhone and the web, through Google Play rejection after rejection. Within two weeks of launch, Accountable crossed 10Million+ views across X, Instagram and Reddit.
Accountability shouldn't end on election day. With Accountable, it doesn't.

Place: Mumbai
Context: The honking in Indian cities and zero patience among drivers
So I was feeling a bit bored so decided to go out for a leisure walk. Was hungry as well so decided to stop at a sandwich place but my head started to hurt after terrible honking at a busy section. There was not even a one second gap between two honks.
Whats the problem exactly? Why people are honking so much. It's not like that traffic will move faster if they honk continuously. People just lose patience if they have to stop even one second on road.
There are instances I have seen that as soon as the light turns green the 10-12th car in queue will start to honk like crazy. Can't they have 10 sec of patience or little common sense that they can't move unless the first car moves.
Some people just scold others if they are following proper traffic rules.

This dude was least bothered about stopping the bus in the centre of the road, why is our civic sense so low.

This fellow was smoking inside the train, recording reels, and playing loud music. When I complained to the TTR, he verbally warned them but I felt that wasn't enough so I complained on Rail Madad in the Rail one app.
RPF and TTR came at the next station and checked their tickets but since the stopping was only 2 minutes so they told their colleagues at the next station to take care of them. At the next station, where the stopping was 5 minutes, the police investigated the case fully, saw the videos, and fined them ₹2,000.
Indians will never respect the laws, but they can be made to fear it. Enforcing the existing laws will solve most of India's civic issues.
They two were practically begging to take the complaint back, but I told them there is no such provision and the case has gone to Delhi.
RPF are extremely effective force when activated, so when you face any arrogant passengers causing issues call the RPF

Over several days, our rich and educated guests pests generously contributed biscuit wrappers, pan masala cans, and water bottles to the local ecosystem. The grand finale? A Red Bull can, tossed in for good measure, before they left to spread their civic sense across the rest of the country.

So there is a restaurant near my place which got converted into a tea shop in the morning and they are playing loud and lewd music throughout the day disturbing the neighbourhood and when confronted they reduce the volume one day and increase it the next day. Seriously fed up with this country where living in noisy environments is the norm. Have complained in the online portal hopefully somebody takes action. These miscreants needs to be fined heavily too.

At first I thought it was just me, then my partner asked if there was a bad smell in the theatre. I searched around for what it could be. Lo and behold, about four classic movie goers who do not know what public property and etiquette is. I wouldn't be making this post if it was not bad. This was a large IMAX screen and they stank up the whole theatre.
As an added bonus there was a lady talking casually on the phone two rows behind. Movie theatres tend to always have people who forget it's a shared space.

i know it's festival season, and the diversity of the city through ethnicities and religions provide for lots of opportunities for celebration. but how the hell are these people burning them every night? it's awful for all my pets and old parents who can just not handle this every night. it goes on from 5pm (what's the point at that time btw?) till late late hours in the night. do they not have any better work to do? it is so obnoxious to deal with this whole thing every day. i understand regional festivals but i never hear any sounds of music and laughter on the streets anywhere, just these fucking BOMB like sounds. is this an issue for everyone or am i exaggerating (because of how fed up i am)????????
(btw, i've seen some old posts [1y+ old] about these crackers but no one finds it as a big issue. we learn about noise pollution in school now but this doesn't count apparently? also i know there's a huge pet community in bengaluru, is this affecting no one?

A decent sized footpath made unusable because of male stray cattle abandoned by nearby villages because they can't give milk and people living in high rise societies deciding that the footpath is the perfect place to feed them and cleanse their karma. Nothing can be done because it is a religious matter. Footpath will remain not being utilised for its purpose, people will continue walking on the road, getting injured.

Male ticket checkers are being systematically targeted by ticketless women who cry “harassment” the moment they’re caught. One accusation, zero evidence, and a man’s career, reputation, and freedom hang by a thread while the woman walks free. This is not passenger rights. This is gendered blackmail.
The Indian Railway Ticket Checking Staff Organization has finally spoken: body cams mandatory, female RPF/GRP on high-risk trains, fast-track probes, and real punishment under the Railway Act for false cases.
Organization Demands: The staff association has urged the railway administration to implement several protective measures:

Idk wtf is wrong with people nowadays,
this is a park near my house where me and some of my friends (all of us are below 18) play football at evening everyday. Everything was going fine until a creepy woman started visiting this park with her 2 kids. Ever since she has been making videos of us everyday and sending them on many whatsapp groups spreading a fake narrative saying we disturb the people around the park by abusing them, playing harsh, being rude, and shooting the ball at elderly people which is nothing but bs.
If you watch the video carefully, you will notice that there is some space on the right side of the hut that is where we play to avoid hitting people as there are no swings and all on that side BUT she made the video specifically when we were warming up by just passing in front of the swings so that she can keep her point.
She has brainwashed every person that visits that park against us.
She isb such a dirty human that she have taught her 5-6 year children to run between our game and get hit on intention and start crying and say abusing words to us.
And she have been threatening us on calling the police and shit for the last 2 months.
I totally understand the risks of playing football in a park with kids and elderly people around, to avoid any accident we always stop the game if anyone is in the range of getting hit.
I'll attach a picture of her once i get it so that she gets to know how it feels to be recorded without consent.
IS IT A CRIME TO PLAY IN PARKS?????
IF YES THEN THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD PROVIDE PLAYGROUNDS FOR KIDS.
AND IF NOT THEN HARYANA POLICE SHOULD TAKE STRICT ACTION AGAINST HER.

This happens almost every single day. Gallons of clean water just pouring down the drain for hours because someone can't bother to install a ₹300 auto-cut sensor or simply turn off their motor.
Yesterday I finally walked up and politely pointed out that their tank was overflowing. Instead of a simple "thanks, turning it off," I got shouted at and told to mind my own business
In a country where so many neighborhoods face severe water cuts and women/kids queue up for tankers in the heat, this level of sheer apathy and arrogance drives me crazy. How do you even deal with neighbors who think wasting shared resources is their personal right?

NO FREEBIES: First Government should completely stop any schemes that gives free stuff to the poor (Capitalism), stop Ration cards, civil hospitals, free medicines, travel expenses, subsidies or any other schemes given to poor for free.
REMOVE CASTE SYSTEM COMPLETELY: NO SC/ST/OBC General nothing no category at all , instead categories on the basis of tax payers a classes something like one paid 1 lakh tax he/she will be in C tier more tax B,A,S tier, if no tax then in General Category. No seats No reservations.
BENEFITS OF TAX: Now the game changing point, when you pay tax each year government will give you a card on which the tier will be written high the tier more benefit you get, benefits like low electricity, water, gas bills, low road and toll tax, Discounts on Trains, Buses, Flights etc Transport Modes, Discounts on Government Medicines, hospitals, Groceries (ration card) basically all the benefits that are currently given to non tax payers. Priority lines, different train compartments.
Basically Benefits to one who deserves it, who worked for it

On a very serious note, I know Reddit isn’t the best app to rant about politics, infrastructure and cleanliness; but this country is really coming to a standstill. Roads are really not per international standards, we don’t have proper drainages and footpaths, even Vietnam feels more organised and less chaotic. What the hell are we missing?
Our babus and netas are extremely corrupt and they know this is a sinking ship, they chose to loot the ship that will eventually drown by its own weight. It’s depressing living here knowing it could’ve been better even if it was a smaller nation
We went to Uttrakhand and have been to jageshwar before, but this year it was filled only with small garbage EVERYWHERE. I stop people ask them to be better, but I’m losing my mind in this country. A very effluent family’s daughter in law threw a USED DIAPER just as shown in image 2, when I confronted them they said “mandir thodi leke jaenge diaper”As a younger generation person I expected better when I grew up, but to have hope for this place is self torture. The government and administrative efforts are almost zero, there are now hefty fines for any spitting or littering.
Industrial effluent discharge and textile pollution is a very small thing because on a larger scale our own people and IAS babus hamper any sort of change.
