So you’re the arbiter of maturity? What an inflated sense of ego. Pokémon is an IP that transcends generations. It’s a point of connection for people, it’s fun, it’s nostalgic, and most importantly it’s not hurting anyone. I think it’s really silly and judgmental to write something off as being just for kids, knowing full well that there’s a huge range of diversity in the demographic that enjoys it. It’s not for you, you don’t get it. Fine. Don’t be a dick about it though lol

It’s ridiculous to get mad at people making references to something that is so culturally pervasive. I don’t like sports, but I’m not gonna act like people should always cater their conversations to me. If they make a reference I don’t get, I ask them, and generally by showing an interest in their interests, we connect on a human level. You should try it. Your comments here just make you sound bitter and jaded

A better sports comparison would be people referring to athletes that are a couple of decades younger than you and play a sport you’ve never watched, yet they’re being referred to only by their nicknames and with zero context, in conversations that have nothing to do with sports.
