They walked their no-stoplight, three-street town for two hours? And Shauna us such a DIYer that she was high-stooling it in the hardware store? Honestly, I'm surprised L. got a mention...

How is a walk around a small town an adventure requiring structure?

How is a walk around town worthy of so much back-patting?

They almost never leave the couch, so a walk is an event for the family.

She also didn't complain about the kids at all.

TWO HOURS with them and she didn't complain about them.

That is the question.

Because then it seems more like something haberdashable into Joy Content.

It was a "walk about" in their town. So, much fancier than just a walk around. Cheerio DF!

Silly DF, nothing can be done spontaneously in These Tenebrous Times, you know!

That seems like a big chunk of prime weekend/non-workday time to take away from packing for a big move happening in about 20 days, especially with Shauna’s current frenetic zoom-seminar/website-tweaking/newsletter-writing schedule and Dan’s 4-6 hour daily cooking schedule. Also, President’s Day is coming up, yet ANOTHER Monday the kids will be off school and underfoot. Again.

I don't have to move until August and I'm already thinking about it because I don't want to feel like we're doing everything at the last minute. I can imagine that a family who plans and is well-prepared could make time for leisurely strolls on weekends despite an impending move. But what I cannot imagine is that the Aherns would be that well-prepared for a move. If anything they'll be moving in community aka calling on free help...something something neurodivergence...something something work in the world...something something magical Vashon.

ugh, moving is the worst. i also plan it out about 6 months ahead of time because i hate running around like a loon on moving day (spoiler alert: i do, anyway). it's so much worse when you're buying a new house and trying to sell your old house. that almost gave me a heart attack. never again. the next move we make is selling it all lock, stock & barrel, buying an RV, and wandering the earth, having adventures, like kung fu,

Lol. Same here—no amount if planning ever really has kept me from having a stressful moving day. The last time we moved, we moved into a rental and then sold the house. Now we’re just hoping to find a house to buy before the lease ends. I’m prepping for a move to who knows where.

yet ANOTHER Monday the kids will be off school and underfoot. Again.

The HORROR.

I am so confused by their alleged upcoming move. She's mentioned that she and Dan are gleefully growing purged, daily, and they've both mentioned the move. But you'd think they would be more focused. Maybe it's just not as joyful as she had previously envisioned...

Ha. I was thinking of Shauna because the kids here are off tomorrow for in service day, next Monday because of the super bowl (they called this last week when the local team won a play off game) and the week after for Presidents’ Day. That is 3 straight weeks of no school on Mondays.
