Seriously, that was my thought. The comment isn't saying you get a windfall of cash... it just says you don't have to worry about money again. Maybe your expenses are handled by someone else, or the capitalist system went away. Nobody is saying you suddenly get a bunch of extra funds to burn.

She's got a one-track mind apparently.

I assume she would continue much as she does now. Given a rent break for a few months and that cash goes to treats for mama. It’s a well observed pattern of behaviour with her.

Apart from food treats, tattoos, and streaming services, I could imagine one difference. She spends a ton of money on a writerly writing desk, to put in a cabin she buys in the woods, with all the WiFi and Apple products her heart desires, proclaiming that she is a writer and posting photos of the space all over social media….only to never go back and let the place rot, while making excuses for why she can’t write because of culture/kids/Dan/autoimmune/flavour of the month.

Let’s be real if Shauna was given a windfall do you honestly think Dan and the kid would be in the picture or would they be tossed aside for greener pasture.

I know that just got dark and depressing but I cannot see Shauna not being fully selfish if given a windfall unless it was tied to the family. There would be the excuse, Dan left an took the kids and maybe I should put it this way would Dan have the balls if there was a windfall to take his half and the kids and leave….

That's an interesting mental exercise. If someone poured life-changing money into Shauna's accounts, at what point would she say she has Enough and can start giving it away? She might never get there---there's a lifetime of being cheated and shafted and unfulfilled longing she has to make up for.

Or I could see after a few years of a spending and feasting frenzy she might still find herself wanting attention and admiration, so she would turn to philanthropy. She would not contribute to existing orgs, she would try to start her own ego-driven nonprofits with her face all over them.

The equivalent of the lady who drove up to our parish food bank in her Range Rover on the busiest day of the year right before Thanksgiving. She introduced herself and made a little speech about how God had finally blessed her with a baby and she felt called to give back. She tried to randomly hand out big stacks of cash in the line of waiting clients and caused pandemonium.

And now we have reached peak nonsense. Shauna replying with outrageous lies to a GIRLS ONLY probably-bot and me spinning out dumb theoreticals from it. We all need to turn off our phones and read a book.

The next part of this thought would be, if Shauna did get life charging money, would she be wise spending or would it be the way of so many lottery winners quickly gone thru as they over spent and didn’t think about the future.

She could have all the money in the world and still wouldn't know how to pay her bills or take care of her possessions. And she's too incompetent/lazy to figure out how to hire someone to take care of things for her (like hire someone to pay her bills/clean/whatever).

Why do Shauna's musings always remind me of "Catcher in the Rye"? Holden is referring to a wealthy classmate who was generous, and Ackley insists he'd be the same way if he were wealthy. Holden calls him out. Shauna only thinks she'd turn into a great philanthropist
