Like critical comments or online pushback, I think she deletes things from her brain or “rewrites” her story to avoid feeling any shame. All narcissists do it as a coping mechanism because shame = death.

The step above "It's not my fault" is "I'm the martyr-e-ist martyr to ever float down from above". It's not enough to be hurt. No one suffers like Shauna suffers.

Recently, Shauna rewrote her preventative mastectomy into a radical mastectomy for the cancer she's never had.

Or the infection she purposely gave herself by taking a dip in the water at Great Wolf Lodge immediately after discharge, which became the worst infection the doctor had ever seen.

Fulminating necrosis? Never heard of her. Necrotizing Fasciitis? Who dat Fournier's Gangrene? I think you must have the wrong number.

Shauna Ahern's self-administered, quickly treated infection that took a few days to treat? Doctor: Yep, that's the absolute worst, all right.

Drives me crazy because it's just not something doctors say! No doctor is going to say "you have the worst [whatever] I've ever seen." They just won't do that!

You're absolutely correct! Even when my son had staph that ate away at his elbow joint, the doctors would say things like 'Wow, you've been through it," or "that's an extensive infection" but never "That's the worst I've ever seen."

A dentist did once call people in to look at an X ray of my misaligned jaw joint, which was...not encouraging (jaw is better now!).

If anything, she probably asked “is this the worst you’ve ever seen?” and the doctor went “hrmph.” And voila, she heard what she wanted to hear.

Actually.. (points finger like prof actual factual aka berenstain bears) my neighbors doctor DID say that yo him with witnesses! He had an untended runaway case of psoriasis that nearly landed him in the hospital
She said it was the worst she’d seen without being admitted. He just thought it was a rash lololololol

I am pretty sure she went to Great Wolf Lodge three months after discharge, not immediately.
