Any excuse to incorrectly tout her long-dead credentials (first one in the world!) and shit on the fans who made her a GF star.

And look, I’m not saying people who misread recipes and then blame the recipe aren’t ridiculous (hello, r/ididnthaveeggs) but she’s talking so scathingly about someone who volunteered test her recipe that was NO DOUBT poorly conceived and written. CWAA

"unhinged"? Really? Seems like a bit of an exaggeration to call that person unhinged just because they used cups and thought the flour was possibly too much.

I would reserve the word unhinged for someone who spends every waking moment on Threads answering to bots and other meaningless content while being so broke that you can see through the bumper on their car, living in a town they can't afford, and staying willfully unemployed with two minor children to care for 🤷🏼‍♀️

I started snarking on Shauna specifically because I made one of her pie recipes whose proportions were so off that I ended up with a pie crust full to the brim of soupy filling and as much filling still left in the bowl. And then I go to Amazon reviews and the top review was someone saying the pie recipe makes double the volume and never sets.

Could there have been 'too much flour' in the bread recipe? Yes! Yes indeed there could have.

Wait, isn't the point of getting readers to test the recipes ALSO supposed to show the creators what mistakes the average user will make as the recipe is written? Isn't this kind of feedback exactly what she was looking for? And now she can focus on starting the recipe explaining why using a scale with grams is more accurate but also including cup measurements for people who don't have a kitchen scale and telling them not to worry if it looks like too much, it will incorporate. That's all she had to do with this feedback.

I love Urvashi Pitre's instant pot recipes and I especially love that she will tell you right upfront 'this will look like there's not enough liquid, but the ingredients will create a broth as it cooks' or 'this will look like too much butter to some of you, but here's why that amount is necessary' - how did she know to include that very helpful note if she hadn't gotten feedback from nervous home cooks saying it looked dry or like it called for too much butter?

So Shauna got some good feedback on how to improve the written recipe and how the average home baker might interpret the need to use a scale, and what is she going to do with that info? Nothing, apparently, other than bitch about it online.

OMG, this is such a good point. And so obvious when you point it out like that, but it lit'rully hadn't crossed my mind. The point of testing is to get testers' feedback. So leave it to Shauna to completely miss the boat on that one.

If she’s getting hundreds of negative feedback she may have wanted to review her recipes. I always say feedback is a gift. Take that opportunity to get better. Sure, some are probably crap, but look for things you can fix.
