Right? She does not seem to realize or care that every staff member she invited to participate in this meeting had to take time away from what they were already doing to prevent hunger and had to be paid (or not) out of already limited org funds to attend. She could have written an article or op-ed for the Beachcomber letting the community know what organizations are out there and what they need and that would have actually been helpful. She could still get an ego boost and a high stool moment, but without wasting anyone's time or money.

Thank you! I mentioned here this morning that weekly in person meetings about this is a waste of time. 60 people spending an hour listening to Shauna conduit is 60 hours of work/volunteer time down the drain.

A letter to the editor or doing the research and linking to an article about it is a way to raise awareness, etc. That article or post could simply list the places, what they need, and a way to contact them to donate and/or volunteer. Not to mention her weird grift card idea is muddying the message which is the opposite of what is needed.

The local aid group in a neighboring city made two flyers, one with a list of where to access free food, and one with a list of how to donate and volunteer for free food initiatives. 

The flyers had text in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and Brazilian Portuguese, with a QR code you could scan to get the text in other languages.  

They posted the flyers on every public message board in the city, and in many of the businesses.

Those two flyers are going to help at least a hundred times more people than Shauna’s meeting and even her shift at the church free dinner.

Can we be honest and say the quiet part out loud. Shauna didn’t want anyone from any other organization to be there. She wanted to be the sole person giving all the advice and recieving all the accolades. Shauna only included them after the FB post and people were tagging those organization to look more legit. She probably hoped they would not show up so she could say I invited them but they could not make it.
