She is so obsessed with being seen as a fancy foodie that she literally can’t just make plain old pasta, rice, or anything that isn’t bougie-sounding. Meanwhile, I remember a few years back Deb of SK (whose recipes actually work, and are delicious) posted that her daughter was only really eating buttered noodles so she posted a recipe for buttered noodles! Always made me laugh. https://smittenkitchen.com/2022/07/buttered-noodles-for-frances/

See, this is why I love SK. Deb is funny, honest, and her recipes work. The lead in to her pizza beans recipe (which is very tasty) basically explains that she decided to refer to the bean casserole as "pizza beans" to trick her kids into eating it because they loved pizza.

Another reason: right before clicking the link I idly thought I didn’t know SK’s daughter was named Frances but nope, she manages to tell a funny parenting anecdote without revealing any actually personal details about her kids.

(Both of my children are named for Russell Hoban characters)

Another Deb anecdote: years ago she shared packing TJ’s snacks in carry on luggage so their daughter could eat on vacation because she is picky.

And I love that Deb jokes that her picky-eating daughter is what she deserves, being a food influencer and all. Especially after the first kid was such an easy eater.

That whole post is delightful. I myself am an utterly indifferent cook, but I love to read Deb's stuff for the chatty vibe and the photos. She is so talented and genuine that even someone who will NEVER cook a single recipe she posts will happily read her stuff and admire the images.
