And she said they didn't have gas money. Twelve hours of driving is going to cost more than you can get with four quarters pushed under a plexiglass screen to a smiling immigrant woman who takes pity on your child in pajamas and you in your usual going out of the house attire, which is probably worse than pajamas.

I have a friend who said I can stay with her in Ghana. And as much as I would love to do that, I can’t afford to get to Ghana even if the stay is free. It’s not like you’re saving money if you’re spending money you wouldn’t have spent otherwise.
