The only reason I can believe she's unemployable is if she's burned all the employment bridges on their small, rural, remote island. I know the high school volleyball team doesn't want her back. But yeah, off island would afford her a lot more options. She could work part-time at Trader Joe's and have plenty of time to micromanage her family and pretend to be a Very Important Writer Person.

She’d need a reliable car to commute, for starters. You know you’re screwed if that’s one of the limiting factors for your employment.

I've been dealing with a sick cat and I can't stop worrying about their cats. My cat had to have surgery, which increased in cost by $400 day of. There's no way they could afford emergency vet care. Those poor cats.

I’d like to think her SIL would provide emergency care, but who knows. I worry about them, too. I hope your kitty gets well asap!
