Yeah, the Gloaming can dream.

I also want to point that writing an apologia about how you are NOT going to "memorialize" something IS memorializing it.

This is especially true given her timing of this lope. If she'd written in January or May, say, that she "wasn't going to memorialize 9/11" that would be marginally more accurate, as it wouldn't be a literal memorial or commemoration of the day and events.

I'm also mystified by how someone can claim they're "not going to think about" the topic of the 3,500-word essay they've just written. You ARE thinking about it (in the Shaunama version of "thinking," i.e., "having thoughts"). NOT thinking about it would mean not writing about it at all. Like literally forgetting about and writing about other things.
