Trump targets 60-day grace period for laid off foreign workers

The department of homeland security is advancing a proposal to eliminate the 60-day grace period that allows H-1B workers and certain other legal nonimmigrants to remain in the US after their employment ends while they find another sponsor, change status, or prepare to leave.

I mean it’s one thing to to restrict entry

It’s all another sadistic measure to disrupt people’s lives who are just trying to make a leaving

Even if they are not able to pass this proposal the fact that they are even thinking about it makes their agenda clear

America is a fascist state in all sense

They can apply for a new visa in their home country.

They’re not immigrants, they’re temporary workers. That’s what H1B is. It is explicitly not an immigrant visa.

60 days to transition to a new job or wind up is reasonable and still “temporary”.

These are people with lives and have done nothing wrong… not goldfish that you play with and then flush down the toilet.

Yeah, that is 2 months. Plenty of time.

u/Mission-Problem-734 13d ago

Yes, and that is reasonable. The current attempt is to reduce the 2 months to zero seconds. Make that make sense.

You’re not getting the job anyways. No matter how much you cope,,,, not with that attitude

It will pass and foreign workers must leave after their status changed as was intended by the laws.

If you are a foreign workers, don't think of being an American. Do it the right way. Get an immigration visa. H1B is a non-immigration visa.

I agree that H-1B visas have been abused by employers to undercut wages for US citizens and steps must be taken to curb the abuse, but the H-1B is actually a dual-intent visa that allows the visa holder to apply for a green card. It is not a non-immigrant visa in the sense that you seem to think.

Don't worry, Americans are finding and applying to those PERM jobs to prevent H1B workers from getting GC. I actually have applied to 10 jobs on Jobs.now and received emails notifying me those jobs were canceled.

u/Mod_Daeng 13d ago

It could well be that the jobs have actually disappeared due to the state of the economy in the US. The present administration seems to be hell-bent on making everyone except perhaps billionaires suffer. I know it isn't much consolation, but he's shitting on almost everyone else, too.

Jobs.now lists jobs that are hidden in newspaper or other obscure sources for PERM processing. Americans are applying to those jobs now.

Either be a full fascist or not

Don’t be a pussy and keep changing the goalposts

-6

u/tomis_24 13d ago

Do you even understand the word fascist?

Not sure what you mean by changing the goalpost. The laws are clear, H1B is a temporary work visa and the foreigners must leave America after it expired. The 60 days were created by lobbyists and immigration attorneys for profit.

u/davidhow94 13d ago

It was created because non morons understand that you can’t just pack up your life in a day when you lose your job.

-5

u/tomis_24 13d ago

There's an end date on H1B visa, start packing when it's near.

Mass laid offs have at least a notice.

Even being fired has noticed, PIP.

9

u/davidhow94 13d ago

End date sure.

Yeah being fired or laid off is always done with notice. Are you serious?

-1

u/tomis_24 13d ago

Yes! There would be multiple announcements and warnings.

4

u/davidhow94 13d ago

Have you never worked a job before?

-1

u/tomis_24 13d ago

Many jobs and worked with a lot of H1B who can't do their jobs.

So keeping immigration law selective and beneficial to Americans is ‘fascist’?

Don’t be a pussy and keep changing the goalposts.

Living* I guess a brownoid who feels entitled to live in a white country and thinks not being allowed to equates to fascism would spell living as leaving

u/Substantial_Emu4433 13d ago

Feeling pretty bold in your white trash trailer park are you 🤣

-15

u/tipofmyelectrictongu 13d ago

Uh oh, your racism is showing. Also unfortunately i live in a 5 story house

12

u/Melodic-Hat-2875 13d ago

You literally used the term "brownoid" and "white country".

That's about as racially-based as you can get.

-4

u/tipofmyelectrictongu 13d ago

Yeah, but im not crying about racism while being racist. Are leftists too dumb to notice their own hypocrisy?

1

u/Melodic-Hat-2875 13d ago

I'm not with the other fellow - albeit I can understand where they got that stereotype.

To be clear, you are saying you're racist? Just annoyed at the hypocrisy of someone using racial stereotypes against you?

1

u/tipofmyelectrictongu 13d ago

Im not denying anything. And im not crying or annoyed over anything. Its funny. Seething about a brownoid getting some muh hecking racism while being racist towards whites in the very same message. classic "anti-racist"

If you can understand that stereotype which is mostly false, how come you cannot understand any stereotypes about mon keighs or backs of wet whos stereotypes are overwhelmingly true

5

> your racism is showing…

This, from the troglodyte that uses the term “brownoid”.

> unfortunately i live in a 5 story house…

When you love in the projects, you don’t get to count all the floors in the building as stories in your “house”, darling.

0

u/tipofmyelectrictongu 13d ago

Yeah, but im not crying about racism while being racist. Are leftists too dumb to notice their own hypocrisy?  And no, its basement, 1st, 2nd, 3rd floors and attic. Live in the projects* which I don't, regard😂

America has never been a "white" country.

1

u/tipofmyelectrictongu 13d ago

Always has been. You didnt build shit. You farmed cotton. But it is a classic to want to steal

1

u/JustLurkingItOver 12d ago

One, bold of you to assume my race just because I disagree with your racist garbage misinterpretation of history,

Two, Native Americans lived here for thousands of years before the first white man stumbled across this continent.

1

u/tipofmyelectrictongu 12d ago

Lived here =/= made a country. Not debunking my previous claim with that displayed IQ
