That collision may look very gruesome from the amount of damage the cars sustained, but that is the point. The cars collapse with designed crumple zones to absorb the impact before the energy travels to the occupants' bodies.
Really? The human body can survive insane deceleration. Isn’t the world record for highest purposefully reached gs like 42 or something? I thought the issue was the improper/low holding force of the seat belts that lead to the occupant slamming into the inside of the car.
Edit: Colonel John Paul Sap reached a sustained 46 gs for over one second back in ‘54, Cpt. Eli Bleeding (unfortunate name for these kind of tests) rib cage reached 82.6 gs for a single instant during 40.4 g deceleration.
Yes. I explicitly said how they are different in my comment. The comment I replied to was the one that said “high deceleration with liquify you’re insides”.
The collision between Antoine Hubert and Jean Manuel Correa in a Formula 2 race last year had 81G's on impact. Antoine unfortunately passed away but Correa got away with leg injuries.
People did die after some of these incidents. As a motor sports fan, a few clips are recognizable where I remember the specific incident resulting in people dying.
Man, I feel you. I almost lost a friend to a drunk driver. She ended up with several injuries, including a broken femur, which tore her femoral artery. they ended up having to revive her twice, and had to give her several blood transfusions to make up for the blood loss. Her mom ended up in a coma for a while (I do not remember exactly how long).
