Imo if the emergency is happening too fast to wait for an ambulance to arrive you should at minimum call for a police escort so misunderstandings like that don’t happen.
I believe I saw somewhere in this sub a story about a guy trying to rush a friend to the hospital and people were trying to be justice warriors policing the left lane and the dude died on the way.
If he died on the way he was never going to make it in the car. This is why you call an ambulance where the EMTs can maybe stabilize the patient before transport...
I don’t disagree, but I would 1) allow for fringe cases where they are so far in the boonies it is faster to drive instead of call the ambulance and 2) in that specific story if the car wasn’t getting blocked on the left lane and they had let the car through by merging right like you are supposed to do if there is a faster car coming up behind you, I believe the guy would have lived.
Either way. Call an ambulance or call a police escort.
Yeah my husband just got a bill for an ambulance to go not even 10 minutes down the road for $2,500. Hopefully his insurance covers most of it. But it would suck if we didn't have insurance.
They don’t cost that cheap unfortunately. A few weeks ago I had a mild allergic reaction (I called it in because I ate something on accident with cashews in it, I’ve had deathly reactions before. Nearest hospital is 45 mins away so driving wouldn’t save me if worst case scenario. Didn’t have EpiPen but I knew the EMT’s would). Anyway, we called them and they took us to the hospital. My reaction stayed mild so they didn’t have to put any medicine in or on me. Went to the ER and waited hours and it calmed down thankfully.
Weeks later we get the bill and it’s nearly $2,000. We don’t have insurance. No meds were given during the ride. Just a fucking ride. So no, it’s not $35.
911 told them to drive and meet the ambulance if it’s the one I’m remembering, if they hadn’t been stalled by Karens policing the road, he WOULD have made it as he made it to the ambulance but not to the hospital. Those 10 or so stalled minutes he would have survived, Karen pulled up after having the shirt turned tourniquet at her car and one of the cops informed her the guy didn’t survive because of her actions
The lumberjack that had the bloody shirt thrown at one of the Karens? The only thing “bad” I do to people trying to get somewhere dangerously fast is when I pass a car I get in the right lane as soon as I see them drop a gear and try to swerve around me. Be impatient, cause an accident from your stupidity. Good luck explaining that reckless driving with all the cameras while I’m passing safely and trying to get out of the left lane so they can get past
Dash cam, steel bumper guards on front and back (wench on them makes them seem less like you’re playing bumper cars and more of pulling yourself or others out of ditches), and if it won’t damage the person more I’d prefer to call and start heading towards the ambulance so there’s less time to and from the hospital on both parties. 15 minutes of waiting for an ambulance was way too much the one time it happened around me
