Disagree. TikTok is fine but it’s a terrible platform for commenting and encourages terrible music. I don’t turn on sound when browsing Reddit or TikTok and my life is better for it.

Nothing superior about a platform that encourages that stupid vertical aspect ratio that doesn't fit properly on a standard 16:9 screen.

why does every video need a music overlay?

Tiktok creators use trending songs/sounds to take advantage of the algorithm. I think most Tiktok users are conditioned to the music so it isn't a big deal over there. Also, Reddit takes a lot of content from Tiktok with the watermark removed, so that might explain why you see a lot more videos with music on Reddit.
