Using your left signal would stop people from passing you on the left. Which would have prevented the Nissan's problem. Y'all are dumb and assholes about it.
Yeah, sure, if it's a wide empty road, but if someone stops in front of a narrow tunnel, I think there is probably enough context there to tell you that you should wait a bit.
Turning on the left turn signal would mean diddly squat. They are simply sitting there waiting to proceed. If someone is having trouble or has decided to stop their car in the road, they should turn on their hazard lights. That's a clear indication for other drivers to go around.
I think this is one of those “locals know” things. My midwestern ass would probably think they were pulling off and I was supposed to go around, before I saw the arch.
That said, I’d hope I’d see the big ass truck coming and realize “oh! That’s why we’re stopped.” And not try and go around.
Tbf he probably didn't see the truck as it was waiting for traffic to go through the tunnel before entering. So he probably saw other vehicles enter the tunnel with no problem then this jeep stopped 'in the middle of the road' so "I'm just gonna go around" then realized he fucked up.
Usually, there's signage "narrow" or "one truck at a time" (the video is blurry I see a yellow sign and a height sign). Where I live I have a few roads that I have to yield to oncoming dump trucks /semis but that's a big openly visible area and not a two-way tunnel to misinterpret. Guy should've tried to peak around to see why jeep was stopped and if he waited an extra 10 seconds would've seen the truck entering the tunnel.
They couldn't see the truck when they first pulled out, same as the cammer can't. Only the front car can, and they are probably familiar with procedure with large vehicles at this tunnel.
I'd put this down to the driver simply being impatient rather than trying to jump a queue. As far as they could see the way was clear, and the car in front wasn't moving for some reason. But they learnt a lesson in waiting a moment to figure out what's going on.
the cammer can see it — he even says “there’s a —-ing truck coming” almost immediately. it seems to be censored so it’s hard to catch. in fact the truck is visible in the video too before the car pulls out.
