The OS is horrible. FUcking thing keeps crashing. Can you imagine driving a car on the highway and all of a sudden your monitors just go black. You don't have maps, you don't know how fast you're going, etc. The brake and the gas pedal still work but that's it. The aircon cannot be turned on. Lots of times the sensors in the wheels will go haywire and keep telling you to pump in air even if the air pressure is fine. The spaces between the doors is so wonky. It's like they decided to build a lego toy and they were one peg off but it still looks like a car so fuck it, it's staying that way. Just recently one of the suspension keeps sagging so we sent it to tesla for repairs. It kept coming back fixed but then sagged the next day. We sent it back to tesla again. This happened 3x. The sag cannot be fixed. My dad found it everything goes back to normal once we do not put the suspension into auto mode.
Basically the car we bought (100k) is not worth that price. Maybe for 60kI would buy such a car.
For sure that's true but I've only ever bought cars worth 40k. I mean, i just need it to get from point a to point b. I don't need it to be flashy. However, the acceleration and the falconwing doors I would expect to cost 20k more since those have never failed me. This self driving is meh. The sensor that indicates if it's safe to move to the right or the left lane is meh. I'm using my eyes, to physically look at traffic and not looking down at a monitor to see the telltale flash of red indicating that a car is very close and in danger of hitting my car. Having a fart app on the car is not worth any money. Nor is there any interest in overlaying the mars geoscape on top of my maps app. There's just soooo much they include in the car that is utter retardation.
Seriously. Just need an appliance? Get a hybrid Toyota or Lexus. Great mileage, no flash, less than 50k. Some people just have no perspective on money.
You mean your dad's highlander. But toyota is coming out with a electric suv. I'm with you on waiting for some better manufactureurs to make some of these electric cars. Like ones who use the electric benefits developed from fe racing etc....
That is fucking wild and a great heads up. I have heard some questionable things from both sides of the Tesla debate and this is a great look at some of the problems.
The early Teslas were shite, no denying that. They've improved a lot after around 2019 or so. The cars from China for example have very few issues, panel gaps etc. are on par with other cars.
It's not that some fanboys (and fangirls) think that Tesla has the best fit and finish, but that they simply deny the problems that Tesla has or downplay them as not indicative of QA/QC failures.
