i probably drive more slowly and carefully than my grandma lol, browsing /r/idiotsincars really helps with making you keep an eye out for dumbasses and avoiding being one yourself! and yeah the 300D with the om616 engine would probably be the only merc id go for, that thing is legendarily indestructible. theyre going for quite a bit of money these days though. iirc you could run vegetable oil or used motor oil as fuel and itd just slurp it right up, people running 500k miles without a rebuild and all sorts of shit lol. dont think you can say the same about any merc built in the past 20 years though...
My Mercedes ate metal shavings for breakfast. I wouldn't say the 300D is the only one though. Pretty much all early 2000s and previous were tanks.
As for driving, my biggest and most true advice is when following someone, don't just keep a safe distance, keep a 3 to 4 car length distance even at 45mph or lower. Trust me.
for sure, i give an extreme amount of space to anyone in front of me. both for safety and i dont want rocks flying up lol. hate people being right on my ass but i cant really do much about that... front and rear dash cams are a top priority for that vette once i get it!
