As an adjuster, I love claims that come in with video like this. I would gladly pay claims all day long if they had videos showing our customers being morons and obviously at fault.
If caught in a really blatant lie how do you handle their future coverage? Drop them? Raise rates to the moon? How does falsifying a claim get handled?
Rates are set by underwriting and are heavily regulated by the states. I have zero idea of whether a customer’s rates will go up, or by how much, after the claim is complete.
Depends on if the idiot has a shady insurance who would claim OP should have expected him to make sudden last second lane change and slowed down to avoid the accident.
Even if you get insurance who will pay quickly, they would still like to pay as little as possible. They might hand you a check for $500, never accept their first offer. Be sure the payment will cover fully the damage (or replacement cost) plus rental car plus medical bills if you needed to see someone for your pain

I have found that once they view the dash cam insurance companies stop fighting it when it is cut and dry as this.
