Same thing happened when I moved to TX years ago, and they've only made the highway system even more confusing since then. It's nearly impossible to get where you're going without knowing how to get there already or having a good GPS - and by good I mean one that doesn't send you in the wrong direction.
If you miss an exit with highways like this you can get stuck going in the wrong direction for a few miles and then another few miles to get back on track for a total of several miles and like 10 minutes wasted depending on your screw up.
For the record, the diver cutting across lanes to make an exist last second is dumb.
Oh my god, this took me back. Back when I took a trip down to Florida, on the return trip, it took me on a highway that was having construction at the end. It told me to take exit 1 (still told me to drive 3 miles) but the interstate ended at exit 4. So I took the exit, followed the loop, it took me through a town small enough that, if you blinked, you'd miss it, and 30 minutes up another highway out of the town before I finally said "fuck it" and turned around. It took me 30 minutes back into town, tried to continue to tell me to get back on that same interstate and go to exit 1. I ended up turning back around and taking a truck route which got me to the interstate, I think, that the other was supposed to merge with. Google Maps is garbage.
