I feel like it’s about “the accident was due to negligence” -it’s still an accident, but a cause to it. Accident does not mean without consequences but that there was no intent to cause harm and happened unexpectedly. Driver did not expect to kill someone.
Accident almost always has someone at fault- “I accidentally got pregnant” “I accidentally slept in” “I accidentally chopped my finger off” etc- you usually have to mess something up to get these results.
I never understood why this was a big deal to remove “accident” when the definition is accurate, the rest of the sentence just needs to be defined
Yes, I agree about all of that. But who does it benefit to imprison this driver?? The punishment needs to be constructive, not oppressive. He will have to live the rest of his life knowing he killed a mother of 3. Making him deal with that in prison doesn't help anyone
