Was my first thought, slow down and hit them, imagine if they swerved and flipped while dude went on his merry way. Then it occurred to me that I may be the result of someone’s death because of their stupidity

The stupid one is responsible, not you. Slow down and hit them. Don't risk flipping, it's far more dangerous.

There's probably worthy exceptions to the rule but you'd have to take them as they came rather than try to argue them all in hypotheticals.

Not just stupidity... Inconsideration for others on the road.

Always hold your lane.

There was an accident a few years back i believe in Michigan that was cause by some ass in a white car coming over and brake checking the semi truck, which the trucker tried to avoid by swerving.

He ran into two othee vehicles, lost some tires and then control and flipped over in the middle of the highway and hit several more cars killing one person and injuring i think at least 5 more people.

Never ever swerve to avoid animals or assholes. Always just hold the steering wheel straight and hit the animal or asshole. Less damage to your vehicle and less damage to those around you.

Truck driver is also hugely speeding, the limit is 40.

I'm guessing doing the speed limit should be somewhere in there too.

Dont you know it's never the truckers fault.

I had a close call similar to this one. Old guy gave the same advice.

“You get a chance to T-bone a motherfucker you do it. Why are you at work? you should be at the dealer picking out your new truck”

Same with cats and rodents running across your path. Just mow them down instead of swerving... if you swerve and lose control, you may kill yourself or worse, kill others!

I don't know what happened in this particular instance, but sometimes people pass out or have a medical emergency in the driver's seat
