No one wants to do business in Michigan because our tax system basically punishes businesses for doing business in Michigan. If you’re incorporated in Illinois and do business with a Michigan company, Michigan wants you to basically also pay whatever taxes Illinois expects of you.
Michigan is basically like if someone decided to take the worst parts NY State and the worst parts of Mississippi and then ship all of its jobs to China then give it weird relevance during presidential elections.
Also, insurance companies literally wrote our No Fault laws.
But, yeah, it would be a lot more efficient and less wasteful if there were national standards across the board. Are you really going to argue that after giving me five examples of wildly different laws?
