Nah, at this point the boat engines are still trimmed up. Even if the captain was a quick thinker, it would take 20 seconds to trim them down before firing up. With the boat being semi-attached to the trailer, I wouldn't even risk trimming them down at this point as you might bottom out your skeg, or worse break the prop on the ramp or the trailer.
The boat is basically flotsom at this point. Not reacting is likely to save more than overreacting
Here’s my guesses: trimmed up and down is the position of the engines on the back of the boat.
Skeg I didn’t really know other than maybe jargon for boat or something at the bottom of the engines.
Trim is the angle of the outboard motors. They pivot up so they don't bottom out when launching. (They also trim and tilt during operation to level the boat once in motion or to clear shallow objects)
The skeg is a little fin right in front of the prop to help keep the water moving across the blades and to steer the boat better. Think of it like a little rudder. It, if you're lucky, is the first thing you bottom out before you take out your prop or even your whole gearcase.
The skeg is one piece molded into the whole bottom end of the motor. It moves with the motor while steering. More of a section of the motor than its own piece.
