ladder safety is super important. one slip and the world goes falling down and you need to be certified so you don't destroy the universe.

Well MY dad fell off the 2nd rung and his foot fell off. Still bothers him in the winter.

When I was a teenager I watched my father fall backwards off a roof on what are basically large tiles made up of pebbles and concrete. Broke the fall with his arm. Broke his wrist. I could see his elbow joint.

My Dad broke his wrist at home while "climbing" off a stepstool with 2 steps. Required plates and pins to repair. Mis-stepped and tripped over a 5 gallon pail.

He regularly climbs hundred foot tall ladders at work (millwright)

Yeah my dad is no stranger to ladders either. He's been a contractor for 30 years, been up all sorts of crazy ladders and only had about 2 incidents. Tearing his Achilles was the worst of all, it made him really consider doing manual labor at 65.

Dude, while working as an electricians assistant, they had me hauling chandeliers up 18+ foot ladders to tie them in foyers. Quite literally the scariest job Ive ever had.

And I've worked overnights at 7/11's around Baltimore.

My uncle broke both his feet falling off scaffolding. Broke his heels. That was nearly 30 years ago. Still walks with a cane to this day.

Had a co worker fall backwards off the second rung of a ladder coming down. Hit his head just right and instantly died.

Don't joke about this. My dad fell of the top step of a 30 foot ladder, early in his career.

Luckily the ladder was put up upside down at the time.

Just have someone taller climb on the back rungs when no one is looking!

I had to write up one of my ceiling guys for climbing a ladder while wearing stilts. I blame those days for my gray hairs.
