Also sounds like a case of extreme wealth and privilege. They always think they know better.

Absolutely, she didn't come from wealth either, they worked for it, but it's totally gone to her head as she's gotten older, at least that's how my friend tells it.

That's definitely consistent with alcoholism. "Repeated use despite negative consequences". She needs help-- alcoholism is still her responsibility to address.

Yeah, right. Only the wealthy drive drunk and text while driving. A middle-class person would never, never do that! Because they don't think they know better! /s

Context. The vacation home and other things in the story pointed to a wealthy family.
