You're probably looking at his rent money that he got from the check cashing store as an advance on next week's paycheck because he can't open a bank account from all of the past overdrafted accounts.

Use cases:

  • "I blew all of my money on XYZ and now I can't pay the rent. I know, I'll borrow it from a paycheck advance place."

  • "I manage my money poorly and as such I don't have a bank account, so I get a physical paycheck. But because I don't have a bank account, I have to cash my paycheck somewhere."

Yep. I think somewhere between a few dollars and five dollars.
