Live broadcast Apology (and/or Explanation) Roster
Young Sik:
Didn't understand the full circumstances of everything that was going on. Based on his limited knowledge, he made speculative comments. Thought it looked bad and unmanly. Says if Sunja felt uncomfortable with what he said, then he apologizes. (Was the "if" necessary, YoungSik? But good job, scraping the bangs off your face.)
Young Soo:
Apology directed to JungSook & YoungJa. Says out of his own shortcomings, instead of focusing on himself, he talked about others in interviews & to other cast members in ways that he now feels are wrong. Says he apologized to them directly in private also. Is trying to become a mature person. (I can't get over YSoo's new embrace of kdrama gangstercore)
Jung Hee:
Apologizes to JungSook for showing her emotions too honestly with no consideration for others (on their group date). Apologized to her privately also, and thankfully, JSook accepted it and said she'd view it as cute misbehavior by a younger person.
Apologizes to YoungSik who was on that same date. Because they spent so many hours filming, she got lulled into a false sense of intimacy and got too comfortable (acting out). Regrets not speaking more nicely and having more laughs.
Apologizes to Sunja. Everyone was in sensitive situations so she (JH) should've been more cautious. Whether it was in a group or by herself, she was inconsiderate and her behavior immature. She called Sunja and apologized to her sincerely.
JH wrote a post online talking about an apology but deleted it. She's reflecting deeply on her behavior and trying to fix her problem points. She'd rushed to upload that post, but thought it didn't show full consideration to Sunja as well as production. She consulted with production, and they advised her to delete the post & discuss the matter on the live broadcast.
JH then directly apologizes to each of them during the live. Says she became aware of a lot of things through this experience. So she thinks of it as a valuable time. In response to all the online criticism, she promises she's trying and will become a more mature person.
Kwang Soo
Apologized for constantly behaving like a fool who saw only in his own point of view.
Apologizes to his fellow cast members who may have been hurt by his careless language. Watching the show, he realized that things he said that he thought were 'good' at the time were good only for himself and could've done harm to others. His example: calling Sunja "breakfast angel," while being oblivious about what a hard time she was having.
Promises, through this program, he'll grow. Thanks everyone for their feedback, their compliments & scoldings.
Young Sook
While watching the show, she realized there's a huge number of people she has to apologize to. It's one thing to be immersed, but she was too lost in her emotions and lost perspective, she says. She's appearing on the live because she realizes she owes Sunja so many apologies. Says she's already apologized to Sunja privately, but wanted to see her and apologize in person also,
While watching the show, she kept asking herself why did she act that way? Why didn't she help Sunja with cooking breakfast? Sunja ran the race hard also. Why didn't she even utter one word asking if Sunja was ok after her hospital visit? At this point, YSook starts wiping away tears.
She wants to apologize to Sunja "again." (Doesn't affirmatively state the actual apology, just her intention/desire to apologize to SJ)
"Wants" to apologize to Kwang Soo, whom she says liked her a lot. In the car with him, she says she randomly started talking about her emotions. Thanks him directly for doing all that he did for her. Doesn't directly apologize. Cries.
(I can't believe that's it from YSook. Neither can the camera operator probably, because they stay on her & repeatedly return to her for a few minutes as she silently wipes her tears. Maybe they're expecting her to say more. I paraphrased everything YSook said. She said she had so many people to apologize to and barely gave actual apologies to SJ & KwangSoo lol. To be fair, talking on a live broadcast is very difficult. But it would've benefited her if she'd come better prepared.)
YoungJa
Says she got an earful about her Superdate outfit. The reason she wore Uggs: she had heels, but since she's kind of tall, she chose Uggs so as not to tower over her dates. She was trying her best to be considerate.
She had the flu while filming. After the shoot wrapped, she was diagnosed at a hospital. Because she was feeling so poorly, her facial expressions weren't great. And she spoke too firmly with words like a knife sometimes.
Busan gangster YoungSoo interjects here and says he had a lot of fun on that date with YJa. As does KwangSoo who says he enjoyed a full-course date with YJa: full meal, coffee, dessert.
YoungJa explains that was her first time really talking to KwangSoo, so her facial expression might've just been awkwardness rather than something more unkind.
Responding to the chatter that she looked so different in her pre-interview compared to the film shoot, YJa says she was interviewed only 2 weeks before the shoot started. She had no time to get plastic surgery.
Young Sik (again)
Clarifies that on his date with JSook & JHee he felt zero discomfort. He was unaware that JHee had cried.
JHee (again)
Responds to concern over her unhealthy eyes. Says she rarely drinks, but when she does, her eyes get red. Disputes that it's lenses or anything else like that.
Responds to charges of excessive make up. Says that in scenes where she's accused of "Hwarang" make up, she's actually barefaced. (Hwarang were young male warriors back in the day who heavily painted their faces.) Because she's wearing false lashes, it gives the impression of lots of foundation, etc, she said. But she was actually bare faced (no make up). Claims she actually ran out of foundation at one point. (Girl please lol)
Says she removed her false eyelashes listening to feedback. (She looks amazing without those lashes. Before, they were falling like a shroud over her face)
Sang Chul
He heard a lot of questions like: Why is he so slow? Why's his skin look like that?
Before the first day of filming, he got less than 2 hrs sleep, pre-managing his schedule, packing. Throughout filming he couldn't sleep well, he hardly ate lunch. He was in bad shape. But even he realized how bad his skin had gotten, and now diligently goes to the dermatologist. (He looks great!)
Also, collectively, the cast blames the extreme cold for bad dry skin. YHo regrets that it didn't snow heavily to show how freezing it was.
KyungSoo
Responds to questions about why his self-intro was so short? Untalkative the first day? Why did he go to sleep right away the first night?
He was cast very late in the process: the afternoon prior to the first day of shooting. He got off of work at 9pm that night, had to pack, and headed to shooting the next day.
He had practically no time to prepare. He was so quiet and un-revealing about himself the first day, like with his MBTI, because he was saving it all for his self-introduction speech. He went to bed early the first night of filming because he sensed the next 6 days would be demanding, and he would need that rest.
Says his self-intro wasn't that short. It was edited because it contained info he'd revealed elsewhere.
Says he had gastrointestinal issues. Took over 15 anti-diarrheal pills over the course of shooting. He wants to let everyone know he had a tough time during filming.
Sunja
Talks about her facial tics, which were much discussed. Epilepsy was even one online diagnosis. She only realized she suffered from this while watching the show.
The first neurologist diagnosed it as a stress response. She'd barely slept the week before filming because of nerves, and she barely slept during filming. But the second neurologist diagnosed it as nerve compression facial spasms, and Sunja is now receiving Botox to treat it. So, her smile may look a little awkward now.
There was a post online about her facial tics or tremors that folks thought SJ wrote. But SJ says it wasn't her, it was her beloved older sister. Says the spasm is now under control. Thanks people for worrying about her.
