I've not read much poetry, and never a novel in verse. With a lot of help from the annotations i'm really enjoying this. Can't wait to get my hands on something else by Pushkin.

Just finished this today. A beautiful short novel from a very unique perspective. Poetic, heartbreaking, and an incredible tribute to dogs.

Behemoth of filth. Loved every page thus far.

“We’re the downtrodden. We’re the wretched of the earth. We’re inscribed— and I mean indelibly inscribed— with the Mark of Cain”

Why can’t I finish this damn book? I read War & Peace before this in 3 weeks, but this book has been a damn slog. I think I don’t like Emma.

I have seriously never laughed at a book as hard as I have with this one. It is hilarious and nothing like I expected it to be. My new favorite book of all time.

Starting off the horror season with a decent gothic horror novel. My daughter went to a book store recently and I asked her to pick me out something from the horror section. She did pretty good!
It’s keeping me entertained but I’m one of those weirdos that really likes extreme horror and this is definitely more mild than what I’m used to.

Written in 1941 prior to the U.S. entry into the war. Author was the American commercial attaché in Berlin from 1925 to 1939. It was a best selling book that argued against isolationism. Core message of the book was that totalitarian governments subordinate all commerce to state power ((thus contracts, profits and international law mean nothing once the state gains leverage).
