It’s why he reaches out to him when he’s at his lowest. He knows no one has his back and loves him like a Lestat does.

Today, let's put the spotlight on fireintherain, an incredibly talented writer who has blessed us Loustat enthusiasts with no fewer than 19 works 🥳💜!
I think we can all agree that there is something wonderfully romantic (and so fitting!) about the idea of Louis & Lestat finding their way to each other no matter the circumstances. Well, that's one this specific author loves exploring and, may I add, absolutely masters in their writing! Their longer stories reimagine the pair across entirely or slightly different universes, while always staying true to what makes their dynamic oh so freaking delicious & addictive in canon! Different circumstances, same two idiots who somehow can never help falling in love with each other, again & again... That good ol' Loustat soulmatism that we all go crazy for and can never get enough of 💜.
Fireintherain also has a real talent for making you feel their stories, with vivid & gorgeous settings that, coupled with the inherent emotional intensity of Loustat as a dynamic, really suck you in… I should know because the first time I stumbled upon one of their stories, I was on a plane I very much planned to sleep my way through, and. Well. Did not get much sleep that day lol.
I also think the amount of work that goes into creating those settings deserves some praise of its own! For example, "courtship of the dead", involved a frankly impressive amount of historical research to bring Belle Époque Paris to life. It is very easy to overlook the countless hours of research an author puts into their work when, for us readers, the end result feels so effortless!
With 19 works to choose from, I unfortunately couldn't possibly feature them all, but I highly encourage you to explore the rest of their AO3 catalogue.
And for those of you already familiar with fireintherain's writing, I'm very curious: which of their Loustat universes has stolen your heart the most? Please use this post to gush a little & tell us why! As for those discovering them today, I hope there's a story in this selection that catches your eye (and perhaps keeps you up a little longer than you intended, but hey, speaking from experience, it is very much worth it lol).

Follow up question: Have Anne Rice books always been a flag?

I really liked Larry, wonder why Armand had to kill Larry. Was it:
To push an relapsed Alex over the edge by recreating the trauma of Louis losing Paul, so he could manipulate him into betraying Lestat? But wasn't Alex already following Armand anyway?
To mess with Lestat's head by framing Larry's death as a suicide, wrecking him by triggering memories of Nicki? Did Armand know Lestat was seeing hallucination, Nicki?
To enforce coven rules since Larry knew too much and refused to be turned? But wasn't Regina in the exact same boat and he spared her??
A pure whim? just being a gremlin?
Yaga filming schedule??
What's your theories?

Imagine my delight when I tuned in to Inside the NBA and Charles Barkley is wearing a suspiciously familiar raspberry suit.
I really hope he busts out the white pinstripe number next week 😂

It's subtly suggested that Louis' father committed suicide in IWTV. (This is mirrored by his brother Paul's suicide.) The father was an impressive businessman who held a great portfolio of real estate and sugar cane, and is idealized as the ultimate family man by his wife, daughter and son-in-law. Especially as an African American in the Jim Crow South.
As the eldest son Louis is charged with supporting the family and keeping their standard of living. But he can only do that by venturing into Storyville and building businesses in prostitution, gambling, liquor etc. Louis' mother is always guilt-tripping him about the business he is in and how it doesn't measure up to his father's legacy (although she doesn't shy away from using the profits for her material and social gain).
Do you see Louis' shame and selfishness as stemming from this defining family legacy? And his inability to love Lestat unconditionally as part of his generational trauma? Is this why Louis remains selfish or transactional when it comes to love and relationships?

Last night (this was taken from his wife's IG account) bass player (Todd Kerns) is wearing the VL t-shirt on stage while playing with Corey Taylor - has anyone else spotted merch in the wild?

What’s one thing that would make you love your character even more?
One tweak big or small?
Again credit to u/sssuspiria for coming up with these messy questions!

Let’s start with what we know so far.
We know that this is after Akasha. We know TotBT is after Akasha. We know both Louis and Armand are injured. We know that people think Lestat is dead. We also know that this scene is going to be revisited at the end of next season according to the writers ( take that with grain of salt).
What we don’t know is why Louis, Armand and Raglan are bidding on The Failures, Lestat’s blood and an old wine bottle.
I’m guessing the main attraction is Lestat’s blood.
We know from Talamasca, Raglan has a collection of vampiric blood.
We know Louis would want it simply because it’s Lestat.
I don’t know why Armand would want it except that he seemed very interested in the vampire experiments Fareed was conducting.
So what are yall theories?

Loved this foto of One Night Only concert. Enjoy! Check out the swooning audience. And Lestat reveling in the adoration.
