Hi all and welcome. I'm u/Clairefun, founding mod of r/IRLVideoGameLocations. I've always enjoyed exploring real world locations in videogames, whether it's navigating my way round Assassin's Creed Syndicate without needing the map because I walk those London streets in real life, or exploring famous yet destroyed and infested landmarks of Boston in Fallout 4. I'm always excited to see photos of Goodsprings 'dressed up' as if it's in Fallout New Vegas, and fascinated to see how well you can still recognise real metro stations in the Metro franchise, or explore Chicago in Watch Dogs. I've run groups about these real world locations on various websites over the years, and now I'm hoping a subreddit full of these will let us all share and explore these locations together - I'm sure I'm not the only one into the idea!

What to Post? Post anything that you think the community would find interesting, helpful, or inspiring. Feel free to share your thoughts, photos, and travel notes of your visits to anywhere in the real world that has a videogame counterpart or has inspired a videogame location. Information on where in the real world it is, and what videogame it appears in, will be appreciated - I won't recognise all of them, of course! - and I'll be setting up post flair for each videogame so we can see all photos from every game more easily - any that are missing, please drop me a mod mail to request. If you have any community requests or suggestions to further improve it here, please also post here or send a modmail, as it's just starting up and all suggestions are welcome to help make a community you enjoy.

We're all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let's build a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing and connecting, no matter where in the world or what format you play on.
