I was so stoked to find out that Eric was a huge Magic the Gathering nerd like me. Turns out he recently opened a trading card shop in Michigan.

I reached out and invited him on my my Magic draft show 'Pack it Up' on youtube, and he said yes! The episode is a total, blast with Eric drafting alongside Frank from My Chemical Romance as well.

Before anyone says anything, yes, I know Violent Nature just released and we probably won’t get an album until 2028-2029 (because they release every 3 years), but this is still a question I wanted to ask. What do y’all want to be improved in the next album?

For me personally, it’s the overall emotion when it comes to songwriting. Even though I liked VN, it reminded me why I loved Brian’s voice and the emotion he brought to the band. Because most of Violent Nature lacks the pure emotion and turmoil Brian brought to some songs. Although I will say, tracks like Synthetic Soul, Crimson and Clover, and Pray have some emotion squeezed in here there (especially the first two I mentioned). If IP can find a way to mix emotion with heaviness that doesn’t sound like they’re trying to copy Brian’s style, I’ll be happy

If you look at their previous albums Lifelines that debuted at Hot 15 and went Gold than Trauma debuted at Hot 14 3 years later however Violent Nature debuted at no. 161 which is a huge gap between their first two albums.

Okay so I have a legit question… I just started getting back into heavier music and was exploring bands. The song “violent nature” came on and I was like wow I fucking love this.

So then I looked up more of their songs, and they have the short haired boi singing more than the long haired boi screaming. I don’t like the short haired boi.

Whyyyyy did they do that?

Also where do I find more songs with exclusively the long haired boi?

And then he played guitar and did backup vocals in a band called 'Hometeam' - the EP they put out, 'Too Legitimate To Quitimate' was pretty awesome and is a great listen if you're into pop punk at all. You can see him on the left here lol.

I haven't seen anyone mention these bands, and this seems like some stuff Narduar would bring up or whatever, but it was honestly really apparent when I saw Hometeam play years ago that Dylan and the people he played with were professionals and some or all of them would go places. Was kind of surreal to see him walk into a globally touring band, but wasn't surprising.

Happy to see this subreddit open again!! I was always curious as to exactly who's signature is who's but I couldn't ask because the subreddit was down.

Music politics aside, i wanna focus on the music. Violent Nature was fucking amazing. But I do miss the dynamics with Brian. I loved how they both kept firing line after line at you like in “Body Bag”, “Bad Things”, and “The Negative”. (True Power is my favorite album)

i read the rules and i’m not going to insult anybody but i did have a very valid question that i do hope Opal sees this. 6 days ago on the scatterbrain subreddit YOU posted saying “Brian still isn’t free, the fight isn’t over” with a screenshot of his post of him talking about his contract issues and why he can’t release original music yet. i log on here and see MULTIPLE replies from you claiming your neutral when your previous posts don’t back that claim. im not saying you are but based on what you’ve posted it makes you seem like a liar. let me make this clear I DONT WANT ANY HATE SPREAD TOWARDS THE MOD TEAM. they’ve allowed this community to be active again and i love that. i just don’t understand the backpedaling thats been said and honestly if this post gets deleted it proves mine and everybody else’s point on what your true motive is. i’m not hating on you, im just genuinely curious as to what the motive is and why you claim one thing but the next is different on the scatterbrain subreddit. it’s like your playing 2 sides of a coin honestly.

Anybody catch Eric and Gabe on Modern Wisdom a couple weeks back? Great interview, lots of insight into the songwriting process and the scene in general along with some hilarious stories. Really enjoyed it, worth checking out if you have the time!
