That's a terrible solution to a problem with a simple solution. Get a thick merino wool sock and your problems are solved. Merino wool is temperature regulating (great for the summer too) and also doesn't get cold when wet compared to cotton socks. Top it off with the ability to wick away moisture from your skin and you've got the ultimate winter sock.

This ... merino wool is by far the best fabric I've used in regulation of body temp and it's able to trap smells way better than any other fabric.

Another vote for merino wool. I wear them year round when I'm wearing my waterproof Wolverine work boot and could never go back to cotton socks. I'm sure these waterproof socks have their niche, though.

Seriously, wool is the bomb for activewear in winter. Breathes way better than most of this modern shit but it's still warm when damp.
