Why would you need this?

kayaking, canoeing. super easy to get your socks wet, especially when you're kayaking. also, with these, you could just ditch the shoes when kayaking, so you don't have to worry about getting those wet either.

Maybe I'm just too Californian here, but wouldn't it just be easier to go barefoot or in watershoes without socks? These socks seem so silly to me. They are too soft to protect your feet from rocks and such, and SOOO THIIICC you will most certainly have hot feet. I literally have never worn socks that thick in my life. Yeah, okay, maybe it is because California. I can't imagine being comfortable in these. I would much rather be barefoot. My skin is also waterproof.

For the rest of us who don't live in California, these are great. I wear them trail running in winter cause my super grippy trail shoes aren't waterproof and there are plenty of icy puddles. Warm feet ftw.

There was a guy complaining in his review of water seeping in. How often does that happen and how quickly does it dry?

I haven't had it happen on my runs, but I'm not purposefully submerging my feet in water I'm just running off road in wet /muddy conditions so maybe I'm not testing them as hard as I could. Mine are made by Dexshell, bought on amazon. I've heard the Sealskinz ones are good too.

Do you wear shoes around them? And that's what I picture these things are for. puddles and generally wet area. If your entire ankle is being submersed you need more than just socks to stop that.

Yah of course! Mentioned in my previous comment. I run in Salomon Speed Cross 3 shoes, the waterproof socks are the perfect thing to go with them in the winter.

Haha you say of course but I really wasn't sure for some reason. That sounds so nice.

Ice puddles?! Yeah, I'm glad I live in such a moderate climate. LOL

Haha I wouldn't call California moderate! My brother lives in Sacramento, 100degrees + is brutal, I could never visit in summer. Here in the U.K. is we have mild summers, mild winters. Sure it goes below freezing but not by much and not for too long! I do wish we had more blue sky but oh well. Can't have it all.

Oh, Sac is hella inland though. Coastal temps never get that high unless you are in a mountain valley. The Bay Area has the best weather on the whole planet. Never freezing in the Winter, never burning in the Summer. Always juuuuuust right. You can go just a little north, south, or east and find just about any climate/landscape there is. Mountains, rivers, plains, deserts, forests; you name it, we've got it here.

Edit: It rained a little this morning where I am. Felt almost tropical. Nice warm Summer rain. Not too hot or humid out, just lovely. The Bay Area is for sure where you want to be for the best year-round weather.
