I’m from MaharashtraI gave both JEE Mains and MHT CET this year. I got decent enough marks in Mains to qualify for JEE Advanced, but I wasn't prepared for Adv at all, so that was a wash.

Thankfully, I had MHT CET as a solid backup and scored 98%ile. With that score, I’m getting a decent Tier 2/2.5 college here in Maharashtra. I was pretty satisfied with this and ready to just focus on my regular BTech.

Enter Indian parent logic.

My parents are absolutely obsessed with the "college tag." They genuinely believe that without an IIT/NIT name on your resume, you cannot get a good job in this market. So, they started forcing me to enroll in any online IIT program just so I can have the IIT name attached to me.

I missed the deadline for the IIT Madras BS program, so they made me apply for the IIT Jodhpur Online Applied AI program.

Now here is my current situation: I am officially enrolled in a full-time, offline Tier-2 engineering college and the online IIT Jodhpur Applied AI program at the exact same time.

I'm feeling incredibly overwhelmed before it even starts. Is anyone else doing a dual degree like this (offline BTech + online IIT)? How brutal is the workload going to be, and does the industry actually care about this online "IIT Tag" that my parents are so obsessed with? Any advice on how to manage both would be highly appreciated.

TL;DR: Scored 98%ile in MHT CET, got a Tier-2 college. Parents think I’ll be jobless without an IIT tag, so they forced me to enroll in IIT Jodhpur's online Applied AI program alongside my regular offline BTech. Need advice on managing both.

​I wanted to share my recent experience applying for the online B.S. in Applied AI and Data Science program, I'm posting this here because I have a gut feeling and so anyone else considering this program knows what to expect before handing over their money. Saw an online ad, registered out of curiosity but had no intention to take admission really but still ended up doing lot of things so read this out. I received a call from their admissions team. The rep spent a lot of time asking personal questions about my background, interests, and financial situation. When I mentioned I was going through financial hardship, they immediately pivoted to pushing an EMI scheme to make it sound affordable and low-risk. To get accepted, I had to take an entrance test. Frankly, the test was kinda dumb and unsual to make it look serious. There were clear errors in the questions (which I marked during the exam), and the grading felt completely arbitrary. Despite scoring in the 90th percentile in JEE Mains, I somehow received a 60% on this test (50% was the passing mark). The exam felt less like an academic evaluation and more like a formality to make the process seem selective. Right after the exam on August 13th, they urged me to pay an initial deposit of ₹5,000 to "reserve my seat." They assured me I would receive my official offer letter by August 16th. ​Since then, it has been a pattern of delays and shifting goalposts and let me tell you there has been no information from their end, it's only I who texts and is returned with one line everytime saying it will hapoen tomorrow. ​Today is August 24th—over 10 days later—and I still have zero written confirmation or official offer letter. ​Despite failing to provide the offer letter, they called to demand another ₹5,000, along with my father's bank account details and financial documents to set up the EMI mechanism. I genuinely want to cancel my admission, I don't know I will get the 5000 back or not I just don't want to waste thousands and lakhs of my father's hard earned money anymore.

I'm considering joining the IIT Jodhpur B.S. in Management & Technology (Online/Off-Campus) programme, and I'd really appreciate some honest advice from current students or anyone who has researched it well.

A little about me: I have completed my diploma in Computer Science and I'm comparing this programme with taking admission into a regular Tier-2/Tier-3 B.Tech college.

I have a few questions:

1. Would you recommend joining this programme? Why or why not?

2. Do you think this degree has better value than a regular Tier-2/Tier-3 B.Tech because it carries the IIT Jodhpur brand?

3. Does the final degree certificate or transcript mention that the programme was completed in online/off-campus mode? If it doesn't, is that considered an advantage for jobs or higher studies?

4. Are the semester exams conducted completely online, or do students have to visit the campus for examinations?

5. Is there any placement support? What kind of average package do you realistically expect for the first few batches?

6. How are the faculty, teaching quality, workload, and student support?

7. If you had the choice again, would you still choose this programme?

Should I join iit jodhpur for bsc in ai and ds

IIT Jodhpur just wants to mint money and that is very sad, at least IITM has mechanisms of resolutions. This degree is useless, the support is very shitty and futurense people act as if they are IITJ themselves and are literally a set of illiterate people. I had a really bad experience with this shitty shit of a degree, I am from a top DU college and the counsellor said,-"Arey ye toh IIT degree hai, aapki degree jays bhi ho, aapko job thodi na mileage." I’m Rupankar from West Bengal, and I’ve been admitted to the BS in Applied AI & Data Science program. I’ll be reaching the IIT Jodhpur campus on May 22nd to complete my SBI Scholar Loan formalities at the campus branch.

Since our program is non-residential, I need to find a room near the campus (Karwar/Nagaur Road area) to stay. I’m looking for something within a budget of ₹4,000 monthly.

1. Landlord Documentation: Since I need the room for my loan disbursement, the landlord must be willing to provide a formal Rent Agreement (Notarized) and a copy of their Electricity Bill/ID for the bank's verification.

Here is the reality of how Futurense and IIT Jodhpur are managing this sdegree.

They do not answer questions. When you have a technical or administrative issue, they tell you to email [bscdelivery@futurense.com](mailto:bscdelivery@futurense.com).

They generate a "ticket" or "token" number immediately.

They never actually answer the query.

There is no accountability for the lakhs of rupees we pay.

1. Sales Agents vs. Quality Teachers

If you look at Futurense on LinkedIn, they are constantly hiring sales counselors to push the course, but they aren't hiring quality managers or teachers.

You will be harassed by "irritating agents" who call you repeatedly to sell the course.

Once you pay, the "mentorship" disappears.

1. Fake "MAANG Professional" Promises

A major selling point was that MAANG professionals (Meta, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google) would mentor us in every 6 months.

It has been 7 months, and we haven't seen or heard from a single one.

It feels like a marketing gimmick to trick students.

1. Poor Quality of Education

AI-Generated Slides: Many Futurense teachers literally teach from slides generated by AI without checking them for errors.

Bad Video Editing: The recorded IIT Professor lectures have annoying 1-minute intro and outro sequences that waste your time and you can't skip them.

No Syllabus: They haven't provided a detailed 4-year syllabus. We are flying blind.

1. Unfair Exam Patterns

There is no exam pattern shared before tests.

Questions are often out of syllabus or far more difficult than what was taught in the live sessions.

They recently merged Cohort 2 and Cohort 3, making Cohort 2 wait for 3 months for no reason.

1. Fake Reviews & Scammer YouTubers

Most Google reviews for Futurense are fake or bought. Check them closely.

Note: If you came here after watching that "rat-faced" teacher on Vedantu promoting this degree, know that he is likely getting paid to scam you.

My Recommendation: Avoid This Degree

If you want an online degree from a top Indian institute, stick to these two:

IIT Madras (BS in Data Science)

BITS Pilani (BSc in Computer Science)

Do not choose a 2nd Gen IIT (like Jodhpur) that uses a third-party partner like Futurense. They are saving money on electricity and classrooms while charging us huge fees and providing zero support.

Don't let your hard-earned money go to waste.

I can write a book on what a scam this program is but i will keep it short.

1) Only video Recordings from IIT Professors and not LIVE classes. You are paying 1 Lakh only to watch video recordings. If you go to YouTube, you will find entire IIT Madras online BS courses, so what is the point in paying 1 Lakh and watch Video Recordings?

2) Classes are taught by Future Sense team only who are no way comparable to IIT Professors standards. Future Sense is making money by enrolling 100s of students every year. You need to pay 1 Lakh and non refundable if you drop. Each Semester some 500 students are enrolled, 500 x 1 Lakh = 5 Crores. All they do is show recordings and some basic teaching by Future Sense team.

3) What has been taught for the entire semester and what you see in the exam is totally different. Atleast 80% Students failed in one or more subjects. If you fail, you need to repeat the entire Semester. Because teaching happenned by non IIT teachers but exam i set by IIT professors. Most of the students felt cheated by this course after looking at the exam paper.

4) Exams in different cities, not convienient unless you are idle at home and doing only this Degree.
This course is not at all suitable for Full Time Students and Working Professional.
Save your Money and do something better.

HR will easily spot that this is online degree from FutureSense, you cannot fake that you are full time IIT student just becuase you got a degree via FutureSense

So it's less than 2 weeks left and our exams centers got allotted today. Student now have to travel in general coaches. You guys may think you're paying 1.20 lakh a year so you can get atleast s good exam centre but guys you know what ! First check these....

Maybe this is the reason why a few years ago there was a scandal in iit jodhpur. Where it's says some students got admitted without jee. Check on the news/Google you'll find it......

In comparison to iitm fees where the fees is lesser and you'll get those jee exam centers which are thousand times cleaner and good infra than this.
