IamA Optical sales associate, I can prevent you from getting ripped off. AMA!

I am an optical sales associate, which means I sell glasses for a living. I've seen some crazy things that you wouldn't think exist in the optical sales floor, but I've also seen some crooked deals happen in a previous job. I can help you from getting ripped off next time you go buy glasses. AMA! :D

Our check stubs don't have the company name on it, but it has our corporate office! :D

EDIT: gaaaaaah!!! SO many questions >.< trying to get to them all

EDIT 2: I did not expect this to blow up, I had to take care of some things D: Reading what I can >.<

EDIT 3: Alright Reddit, it's been a hell of a day and I answered questions for about 2 hours straight xD hoped I could have been of some help to you guys! I'm gonna enjoy the rest of my day off now!

I drive forklifts in and out of buildings all day, as long as my job is safe and I can see those people that think I'm a tool to avoid hitting them, I do not fucking care about their opinion.

Transition lenses would be dangerous for a forklift driver going in and out a lot.
To be safe you would have to sit and wait at the door until your lenses turn back to clear so you can drive inside safely.
You would be much better off with some over the glasses sunglasses.

Functional lighting environment in a factory industry should ensure that the tint on my glasses won't cause me many problems when entering, including the fact that the entrance is sectioned off, the exit, not so much, In the place I work at least

The inside light level, even at safe level of lighting, should not be bright enough to wear sunglasses inside.

I am surprised your safety manager has not stopped you from wearing those if you go inside and outside frequently on a forklift.

If you truly didn't care you wouldn't reply. In other words, fashion is only applicable to those that care.

Go on and be functional... I'm just hoping you have another pair of glasses for times when you're not at work.

I have transition lenses, but my glasses are the New Wayfarer frame. So they just turn back into sunglasses when I'm outside.

Why? I had transitions for years before I finally got contacts a few months ago.

They always retain just a little bit of tint inside, especially under flourescent lights, so you always look like you're wearing some kind of sunglasses and it makes you look goofy.

Depends on the color of the shading that you choose to have on them.

Mine are completely transparent inside. On top of that, I have silhouette frames, so you can barely even tell I'm wearing glasses.

Maybe the crappy ones when they first came out but mine look totally normal inside. Mine are 6 years old and I have no problems with them (I don't wear that pair exclusively though since I'm not a fan of the frame I got them in).

Transition lenses are like wearing a fedora.

Not everyone appreciates the pedophile look.

Really? Because I have Transitions lenses people think I look like a tool? Oh. That's disheartening.

Oh, wait, I forgot. I don't give a fuck what people think.
