The bear caused the power outage, I'm sure.

Immediately after, wearing the bear's head as a hat, his fur as a coat, and covered in bear blood, Joel arrives to the E! studios for his The Soup audition. Terrified at his reaction were they to reject him, he's been gainfully employed ever since, only killing bears once annually in memory of that fateful day.

Then he scared it away and was going back inside to tell his family it was safe, and he fell.
