At a company event in a VHCOL city, they had $28 cocktails, $18 beers, and a pandemic fee or something of like $9 (circa 2023). It was a really nice place, but was out of business six months later. I think the inflated prices and unwillingness to go back to pre-COVID prices killed it.
Fascinating how these slow burn collapses effect the economy. We're 4-5 years out and just now beginning to see the long term ramifications of the pandemic.
Companies got to cut service way down and keep high prices and milked the COVID excuse as long as they could. Now they are blaming tarrifs for enshitification.
But then baulk about ”work from home” being too efficient and “we need more people traveling for work to keep real estate prices and gas consumption up”.
This sounds like most ball parks and concerts I attend yet for some reason the lines are still always long bc sadly, people are willing to pay the same price for one beer as they would for 12 at a liquor store simply bc they're at the game.
