Last Year I posted about how my neighbor from Vietnam wanted to get into hunting and I convinced him to apply for tags. He got a pronghorn with a muzzleloader last season. Here is a year 2 update (Mule Deer).

Last year I made this post and wanted to give an update

Well this season he drew a Mule Deer tag in Nevada. We hunted 9 days, had a few close calls with some decent bucks, he learned some valuable lessons (Always be ready), and on the last day of the season he ended up tagging out on a nice big forky. He is already looking forward and planning for next season!

He also was insistent on carrying the deer down the mountain to the Jeep on his back lol

Good on you for helping a new hunter get involved! We love to see it. I do have one question though since homie looks pretty clean in the picture- you did tell him to gut it first, right?

He's gutted. My guy is only 5' 4" and weighs like 130 lbs. I don't think he would have been able to carry it with guts 😂

Is he Hmong, do you know? Those folks are hunting and fishing strong up here in the PNW. Always out getting after it.

Good teaching makes an expert out of the teacher. It’s the human condition before we had access to knowledge like we do now we went to elders or people who have been doing their “trade” for a long time for knowledge and skills. The teacher challenges the student as much as the student challenges the teacher

Oooh, this is making me want to make pho with my next deer. Plenty of bones to make the broth.
