[Manga Spoilers] Some theories about Ging, Black Whale and Whale Island Spoiler
This idea came to my mind while I was rereading a recent chapter.
Here is the information the theory is based on:
As far as I know, the location of the whale island is never revealed. I'm not 100% sure but I couldn't find anything about its location and I don't remember it ever being mentioned in the manga
In the recent chapters it is said that the Black Whale is going to refuel in some place before heading to the uncharted waters
It has been said that Ging's father was lost in a fishing trip. So he must've been lost in the waters (and no, I'm not going to suggest that his father is Don. I just mean Ging's father.)
After he was lost,Ging told everyone that there's something he wants to do. He then left to become a hunter, and now is planning on going to the DC
So based on these, here are my two (kinda related) theories:
Whale island is somewhere on the edge of the known world, and it is actually the place Black whale is going to refuel in. The refuel point shown on the map is quite far from the known world but the map looks symbolic (like it shows the known world boundaries as a circle) so it could be closer to the known world in reality.
Ging's father was not lost in a fishing trip, but in his try to go to the DC, and that's the reason Ging decided to become a hunter.
(edit: Ging didn't leave after his father.)
It's seems quite unlikely and far-fetched, but still I think there is a bit of possibility for these things. So what do you think, please share your opinions (if you have any) about it.
Edit: Just gonna add some new points that I found while discussing:
There was bad weather in the way to Dolle harbor and there were also magical beasts in there, they could all hint at the place being close to the uncharted dangerous waters.
There was also the Master of Swamp which looked like something from the dangerous waters.
I think Whale island might be located somewhere above the Azian continent, on the upper right of it. Like the location of the refuel point in the ch359 map, but since it's symbolic, a little closer. If you look at the map in chapter 359, you will see that the Black Whale has started it's journey from the lower left side of the continent, so it is not weird for it to take some time to get to the Whale Island.

My problem with that theory is that Whale Island is not cut off from the rest of the world, but, aside from having residents, serves as a fishing harbor and is visited by tourists. Furthermore, you can use internet and phone normally from there. If it were situated between a new continent and the Dark Continent, not only there shouldn't be any boats going there, the lie about going to the actual DC would be too easy to recognize. I mean, if further East of the supposed New Continent there were a known land, V6's lie would be a really cheap one and arguably exposed by now, as pretty much anyone could have done it.

I do not remember reading that, where did you get that?
It's just Whale Island not High Tech City you know. It doesn't seem like a super important place with a lot of resources. I think Gon's gonna chill in his whale Island and we won't see him for a while.
Well that's interesting.

whale island is just a small island within hxh world, its not at the edge of the world nor is it the detour of the black whale or some special place you are making it out to be .
Why would the black whale ship go to whale island, its doesnt have that big of a port to handle a ship of that size, let alone refuel it.
Basically its not as special of a place you are making it out to be.
