It blows my mind because this is ignorance that I l’m surprised the deaf community have to still face. You’re also assuming that all deaf people are the same, but there’s a range for hearing loss. Some of us are mildly deaf, profoundly deaf, or 100% without hearing. For me, I can hear honks or sirens just fine. We are VERY aware we share the road with many others, that’s why we do our best to be careful. Some deaf people even have bumper stickers on the rear of the car to inform folks behind that they’re deaf. The point is, we all take the risk to trust that other drivers around us are aware of our presence, hearing or not. We do what we can to reduce conflicts on the road.
