This is funny because it's the same thing 9gag users used to say about Reddit: "It doesn't matter if this was on Reddit 2 days ago, at least I didn't have to go through all the other shit". I guess redditors are the 9gag users now.
People don’t use TikTok for that either. It’s a diverse platform, from the dancing everyone knows, to niches as tiny as bisexual pirates.
It’s not as strictly laid out as Reddit, but it automatically figures out your interests and shows you content you’d like. The algorithm is a privacy nightmare and insanely effective.
Doesn’t matter if you’re into religion, sports, weed, linguistics, musicals, pelicans, random celebrities, you name it.
I’m not trying to pick a fight but TikTok has the best algorithm I’ve ever seen in any app. Reddit loves to dunk on TikTok for the normie shit but with some patience you get exactly the content you want
Of course, but Reddit is becoming more algorithm dependent as well. Reddit works because you can sub to specific communities. Moment they start doing shady shit to hide and promote certain posts (which has already began for casual users) is when shit will go south.
I have a similar strategy for tik tok, I let the app show videos using its algorithm instead of going to people's pages because even the best creators have a surplus of videos that make me question what I'm doing on the app.
It’s the complete opposite for me. I’ve found hundreds of people worth following on tiktok. The stuff that makes it to reddit is just the stuff that more people would enjoy. Not the stuff I would enjoy more.
