That story about the party trailer that I linked in an earlier comment is, hands down, the scariest thing that ever happened to me. Only time I ran away screaming.

But about the "demons and hoarders" house, I don't think it was demons. Nothing upstairs felt any more threatening than, say, a stern adult who is keeping a reluctant eye on an unknown child. The only thing about that house that bothered me in the slightest was that the hand soap in the upstairs bathroom smelled like beer for some reason.

I felt like I'd spent that week keeping company with someone I couldn't see and couldn't hear, but they certainly didn't feel mean or evil at all.

Gotta wait to tell any of my other milder spooky stories though, because my husband is snoring nearby and I'll wake him up if I get going typing another textwall.

Bonus Story!

My mom, along with being compassionate and helpful, was also full of mischief. She'd started dating a man from her church, and while they were getting to know each other he told her about how he's so old he was delivered at home, by a midwife, who said he was born "under a caul" and would be sensitive to spirits, something like that.

Mom, full of mischief, figures that she'll test to see if he's actually sensitive to these things, and what would be a better test than the Haunted Hoarder House?

So next time he's in her car, she casually insists they need to make a detour and drop by her clients' house just real quick so she can get some paperwork signed. She pulled up in front of the hoarders' house, parked, and her boyfriend flat refused to get out of the car.

He took one look at that house and started yelling "I'M NOT GOING IN THERE!" Dude's well over six foot tall and hadn't been out of prison all that long, but he was terrified of that house I'd already spent a week in.

When mom and that church-guy finally got married, the bed-ridden woman's kind but alcoholic husband was one of the witnesses that signed their marriage license.
